The Messiah
So I recently ordered six boxes of exoticas and a nammor hose from hookah-shisha.com. They came in on Monday and all six boxes were perfect. The nammor is great and I couldn't be happier. The coals are fantastic, even better than the samples I received earlier. Anyways, I use a pipe cutter to cut the coals and it works perfect. Just thought I would share that with everyone. Here is a pic.And here it is in action. Thanks again hookah-shisha. iamscott06
Nice find with the pipe cutter I might go the hardware store and pick one up. It beats using a knife and snapping the suckers.

ZenSilk
I use the serrated part on my Swiss Army knife, then snap the coals. I have done it with every Exotica i've used and it's the fastest. That Pipe thing.. wouldn't it splinter the coals?

The Swiss knife is nice and sharp and clean cutting, you just score them about 1/4 or half of the way down the coal and snap it nice and easy. it's surprising how nice they snap aftr the scoring. I got that knife from some car i found it in, and i think it's perfect. I bet a steak knife would be just as good as well.

jfaltous
I just cut a quick line on one side of them with a serrated knife (just for direction) then keep the knife in there and smack it with a potato masher (it was all I had handy the first time... and I've just stuck with it) and it makes a nice clean break every time. The Messiah
It cuts them clean no splitting. No debris or anything. I tried the scoring thing and this is way easier. No black shit all over.
Snoopy1966
Man I don't know what all the work up here is. I just take a steak knife and just cut into it a little and break them up no problem. sure you get a little dust, try breaking up some bulk coals and get back to me. I barely even cut into the coal. You guys need to start workin' out or something. JKI have been told I have a hell of a grip, must be from slinging metal around for 20 plus years. The Messiah
I remember some people having difficulties and I was just giving an idea that might help them. If you already have a way that works great for you then awesome. Good for you. Different strokes for different folks!
