well I got my original (first hookah) a little mya for $40 with shisha, cage, etc. So I could see this one being an econo version, It looks well made but also it looks easy to make, so it would keep costs down. I doubt the glass is as thick as normal but no problem, great looking little hookah.

Actually, its a schromed Aluminum stem as stated above with a Glass base. The glass base isnt as fancy as the regular Picolo base but it'll work fine. The stem is still solidly built and looks just like the better Brass cored ones. The only problem i can forsee is that, if for some reason you regularly unscrew the port, valve, and down spout, the threads may wear faster. But hell, most people just clean everythign in place so it's not really an issue.
Good hookahs, not as fancy as the regular line but still a perfectly working, warrentied, nice looking, hookah.

I don't sell crap in my shop and i'm starting to sell these.

For anyone interested I found an ebay seller selling legit QTs for the same price, buy it now, + shipping and he has a 100% rating.

PM me for info (and no I don't know the guy) as I don't wanna spam the forum with too many links to the same thing.

Awesome, thanks. I had just never seen a Mya that inexpensive. The QTs are great and the Bambino is awesome, but they both cost more than this one. I want a more compact hookah for traveling so I'm gonna check around and see if some shops around here carry it. If not, Southsmoke should expect an order soon.

chromed aluminum? pass...

why? chrome plating is extremely strong in fact the bond is stronger so you have to chemically (very toxic chemicals) strip it or mechanically strip it

that doesnt look like the gelato mezzo listed on their site http://www.myasaray.com/store/item.asp?ITE...;DEPARTMENT_ID= unless im missing something

more like the picolo than the mezzo:

And no, just a cardboard box.

Are the stems really aluminum? They feel a bit heavier then that.. I have smoked from one multiple times, the only thing i would say is that it's a bitch to clean. So is my QT though.. and this one's 10 bucks cheaper. The Chrome plating on the Myas lasts a long time as well. I have abused my QT for over a year and a half now and it's outlasted 2 bases, usually sitting in water overnight and most of the time over a week. There's just a hard water ring stain where the water level sits on the downstem. Mya's are kick ass, but once they are over-used (because it's imposible to get all the flavors of previous sessions out) you only get one flavor of smoke, kijnd of like superman ice cream only shittier.

Normal myas are usually brass cored with chrome i believe. The economyas are aluminum cored.

so whats the dif in quality/longevity between brass core and aluminum core?

Shouldnt really be much of a difference. The only issue i can even imagine is if you screw and unscrew the ports or downstem a lot. The threads will EVENTUALLY wear out in the aluminum one. But not from regualr use. I think the biggest difference is in looks and weight. The base looks cheaper because it's not as fancy and it weighs a lot less.

Other than that...con't really see why it would matter.

brass vs aluminum when it comes to threads shouldn't be a concern in any way, 99% of paintball markers are AL and they have very fine threads in them that go though a lot more than those corse hookah threads would and a screw is rarely stripped out and its always user error

im not sure if the inside of the stem is plated or not but if it is there should be no difference in performance, if its no there shouldnt be much if any difference just difference in how the corrosion/oxidation builds up. brass slowly builds up a thin layer over a long time, AL oxidizes the second it is exposed to air but it is not as strongly attached to the base metal as it is on brass or other metals. so the only time it will come off though is when you brush but as long it is a decent grade of AL you wont get much of it coming off. hence why anodizing is used, it produces a strong oxide layer and then can be colored but it wont oxidize more or scratch off easily

Sweet, all this information is excellent when I make my choice. I've always wanted just a strict carry-around hookah for parties, school and such. The rule is no smoking within 20 feet of buildings and major walkways, but that doesnt say anything about parking lots. Another reason I love my truck so much. I dont have to hot box it in a car. Carry around a folding chair and a Fire and Ice Grill and I'd have it made.
