Hippo_Master
I have mentioned this Indian tobacco product quite a bit recently. I traded with GNR, and I sent some his way. While I was searching through the old threads in the forum, I saw posts and a couple threads, including a review thread, for "Mush's Dirt". Desi is a very, very fine cut. When handling it, it is sticky on your fingers, and in fact feels like wet mulch, very light and mushy with a rough texture. I read the reviews, and it seems like the over-all experience was not enjoyable to say the least. But as I read them, I noticed that no one smoked it correctly. No one in the US should be able to smoke it correctly though, it's a much different product that takes a slight bit of preparation in order to experience fully. When I first heard about it from someone with whom I was traveling with at the time, I was very uneasy in purchasing and trying it out. I wasn't told how to prepare it correctly and had a very terrible session. It's very dry and I just smoked it like I would a bowl of Nakhla. After finding the kilo I had again a little while back, I searched the internet and came across this forum first and looked for information. I then found a site that retails Desi, and has many flavors. So over time I developed my own way of smoking it by mixing it with Honey. I then was surfing the internet again, and came across a post on a different site from a member, in which was explained the correct way to pre-mix a bowl of Desi, and the bowl to smoke it in, and also how to smoke it. Many of these ways was partially how I was going about smoking, but this way was mroe refined and lead to a perfect session which i will not soon forget. I guess I can't link that information directly, for various reasons (respectively), so I will just give a quick blurb here, for anyone interested in buying it and trying it. It's very simple. If you have a small phunnel and Mod, you add the Desi to the bowl, medium packing (slightly pushed down), under the rim of the bowl. Then you mix in 1/4 teaspoon of honey and a 1/4 a teaspoon of vegetable glycerin into the small bowl amount; make sure your fingers are wet to get a proper mix. I use 2 coconut coals on my bowls, but it will vary with your location, so I would recommend testing the waters. When smoking, inhaling, although easy, will give you quite a buzz if you are not used to it, but for those of you smoking Tangiers, you will not get as buzzed as I would imagine; so you do not have to inhale it if you don't want. Personally, I do. In regards to the flavored Desi; my favorite is Spiced Apple, and I bought 1 kilo more of it as I enjoyed it to such an extent. I recommend buying a flavor in which you think you will enjoy. I hope some of you guys try this out. MODS: I tried very hard to step lightly, but if I over-crossed any boundaries please Edit my post or tell me to do so, as I don't want to stir up any problems. I know what's allowed and what isn't so I believe i kept it within reason. Thank you.
mushrat
It's cool.we had it mixed by a guy from india who knew the right proportions of honey to tobacco as I doubt most rural Indians had Glycerine at hand. We rolled it into little balls to make sure the consistancy was right and filled the bowl. We tried it with and without foil and while we got good smoke from it, the nicotine was a bit much for us. Though i havent tried it since i became a daily Tangiers smoker and one of my minions threw out the last of my stash. If i can ever get more I'll be trying it again. Thanks for the input. AKammenzind
Hrm, this stuff is intriguing. I've got some experience making my own shisha, so I figure I could do it without much trouble. How much is it, and where might I buy some?

Bulldog_916
I think hookah1 would be the best place to go looking for Desi Murli. 5 bucks for 300 grams dry tobacco. Added glycerin and either honey or molasses would make about 750 or so grams moassel. Good value I think.
