Dkoroz
I see alot of people use vortex bowls now. I have never tried it, but does it make smoking a lot more enjoyable?

They both work on the same principle (dont let juices drip through bowl into stem) The phunnel does a better job of doing this. Because the "phunnel" is at the top of the bowl whereas the vortex has holes in the tower, which can become clogged and manufacturing allows for a greater variablitly of hole placement. This leads to ununiformity of performance= phunnel is better.
MechAnt
Vortex is basically a crappy rip off of the original Phunnel. Instead of one large hole going down, it's a phunnel style except holes on the sides of it.Here, it is considered quite offensive to tell someone they use a vortex
inino
just go phunnel. vortex doesnt have quality control, sometimes the holes are high and sometimes they are low and get clogged.
Bulldog_916
Try it for yourself, honestly. If it doesnt turn out well, you've learned something. Learned it the hard way, but learned it.
4d1ct3d
I have a vortex bowl and quite frankly I love it. The holes are at the top, so I was lucky enough to get a good one.I also have a Tangiers small phunnel bowl that I love, but as far as smoke quality goes, I honestly can't tell the difference between the vortex and the phunnel. I find myself using the vortex more often, as it holds less shisha and I smoke mainly by myself.
soldier92
Just to be clear the vortex bowls from Saharasmoke.com will always have the holes at the top from now on. They heard the complaints about holes on the bottom and have stopped shipping any of the ones with holes on the bottom. They posted here saying so about a week ago. soldier92
QUOTE QUOTE QUOTE (Zinite @ Feb 5 2009, 07:12 PM) You're washing your hose with water? Unless it's a Nammor or Razan, that willl cause the metal coil to rust. Might be your problem right there... Square natural coals are awesome... keep using them. Most of us use Tangiers Phunnel bowls because the Vortex are notorious for flaws with the holes. A lot of them have the holes too low so that there is no air flow. We've cleared up all issues with Vortex bowl hole placement, our current stock all have holes on top of the spire. That is the quote from Sahara Smoke CO for those who are interested. Edited February 26, 2009 by soldier92

srawas89
I bought the vortex bowl since I happened to find it locally and it was for like $5. If i could find a phunnel locally I would probably buy it if it was at a decent price. Anyway I am very happy with my vortex but tend to use my egyptian lately because the bowl lasts longer in the vortex and sometimes i dont have enough time to smoke the entire bowl. Anyway both the phunnel and the vortex give better flavor and more smoke because of their design.
