Mayday
Ok so search gave me a topic on this, but there was no discussion at all, so I'm going to start another one.Does anyone use this? How well does it work? If you don't know what it is, here's a link to it. http://tinyurl.com/2bfyu7 The comments on the product page has nothing but praise for it, but what does the hookahforum.com community think? SafeSearchOff
i know alot of users try to make them themselves using household items. but thats pretty much it. i heard some also sort of dull the bubbling noise, but im not really sure other than that. hookahlife
Hey mayday,We have sampled both sizes of Heba Diffusers on multiple hookahs and here is a breakdown.1. It makes the smoke smoother; it basically does the work of ice cubes but without the cooling factor.2. It does silence the bubbling. This was kind of cool at first, but we quickly realized we missed it. It's all part of the nostalgia of smoking hookah.3. It does filter out nicotine by absorbing it through the plastic, but this also reduces the "buzz" factor.4. According to the instructions, it needs to be changed every 15-30 smokes which makes it a very expensive accessory.Overall, it works how it's supposed to but we were not fans of it. We missed the bubbling and the tobacco buzz and the smoother smoke benefit is not as noticeable with higher quality tobacco's so the only real benefit becomes null when you upgrade your shisha. We ended up tossing the Heba, but I guess to each their own. You will never know if you like it unless you try it yourself.Hope this helps. Edited June 1, 2007 by hookahlife
MAKCuMG
Hey, I use the small Heba diffuser on my QT and the bubbling is still there, just not as loud. Def a smoother smoke, dont really use it for its function as a filter for nicotine..I mean, you are smoking hookah...just as a diffuser...more bubbles = more surface area = smoother smoke. Never smoke without it, but I think you could make this youself. I was lazy and bought it.
lazria
I have the "homebrew" version on my 17" and 33". On the 17" I did notice some improvement on the smoke quaility, but on the 33" all it did was quite the noise down, which I kinda like.
newsman
How can you call it a hubbly-bubbly without the hubbly bubbles?
riotxonxbroadway
i'm thinking about buying a diffuser for my friend because he really wants one but it's not looking like a good idea. the idea of it filtering out the nicotine doesn't sound like fun, nor does it quieting the bubbling. and as far as it having to be changed every x number of sessions, is that only if you're using it to filter out nicotine or is it just the whole thing doesn't work as well? NJE03
Personally I prefer using diffuser. I like the quieter sound, in addition I definitely experience a smoother smoke. I still can manage to get a buzz just fine also.
Stinkyfisherman
i've got one it makes my hookah much quieter great for movies. but i think it does make the smoke a lil smoother.
piperjason
15-30 uses? that kind of sucks, I thought it was going to be a permanent thing. I did really get it to quiet down the hookah because I like to smoke watching movies and I think the noise may disturb some of the folks. Of course, I only smoke once in a while.Could you soak this in grain alcohol to leach out the gunk once it is used up?

I know nicotine is miscible in H2O, And the added cooling effects can be attributed to the increase in active surface area of the bubbles! At best this thing could be used as a silencer during movies or something!

I don't know what is up of the nicotine being absorbed in plastic nonsence, it should not change nictine levels whatsoever!
ZenSilk
Huh... I don't think it does much... But supposedly, according to H-S, it "Hydrates" the smoke. I didn't notice a difference.
Canon
smoking normally "hydrates" the smoke. i have one, dont use it anymore cause it only fits my glyph, but not worth it imo. unless the bubbeling noise annoyws you
Bushbr
ive got one, i like it. it does make the smoke noticably smoother for me, and sometimes i miss the bubbles.but all in all, if you got the money, go ahead and get it, but don't use your last 10bucks for it. Cerritus
Make your own esp. before you buy one. Attach some foil to the bottom of the stem with a rubber band and poke a bunch of small holes in it.
penguinboi1227
Bought one not that long ago... I don't notice any difference in my smoke. It does make it a little less noisy.... but that's about it.
