Please Don't post corrective stats if you already have in the other topic.

CORRECTED STATS
I own a Mya and I have not broken the base.: +10
I own a Mya and I have broken the base.: +1
(Instead of constantly updating the number, I will post a +X amount that ye shall add to the designated number. Avoids confusion easier)

So I though I'd make this poll/topic to consolidate the stats on Mya Bases that break. Please don't answer one of the questions if you have an Acryllic, since theyre pretty much invincible, and please anser truthfully for "best results".

Its pretty simple, just choose one. If you have broken a base, and one has survived, pick both. If you are unlucky enough to have broken multiple bases, please include the number in a post. If you are so cool taht you own multiple Myas (Erica...), aslo please make note in a post how many have survived and if any have broken, how many. I will periodically update this post to include the updated numbers.

So vote away, and lets see how super strong, or not, these mya bases are...

edit: also, for the sake of more fair statistics, please do not vote for "my base is NOT broken" if you have owned your mya base for less than let say... 2 weeks of frequent use. Edited by SafeSearchOff

Like I said earlier, I'm getting a Khalil Mamoon instead of a Mya

The bottom of the QT bases appear to be glued on, and mine was insanely thin around the edge at one point. It eventually started leaking really slowly. Turns out there was a horizontal crack going along the entire perimeter of base.
Mine could have been an exception, as one part was always noticeably thin (like 1/32" thick) and it could have cracked just from being set down so many times. Should I spend money on a replacement or e-mail Mya? It was just over a year old.

My Mya is a champ! I got mine from a hookah shop though, where I can actually check out the product before buying it. I don't think I would order one because I wouldn't be able to look at everything to see if it is good quality. But I lug mine around everywhere, its even fallen a couple times ohmy.gif , but it holds up fine. I did have a bohemian Mya base that broke when it fell over, and it was sad. The person that knocked it over paid for my new hookah though, so things work out.

Got rid of mine, cuz I didn't like the cast aluminum stem ... never had a problem with the base though?

But I did break two MYA Bowls sad.gif
... My friend machined one of em, and I can still use it, but it stands about 2 inches tall ... laugh.gif

You need another option. I don't own a Mya because I think they are ugly. Well except for the REALLY expensive ones like the cloissonne one. Most of them are just to modern looking for me. Guess thats why I smoke a KM! I have reccomended them to others though as a good starting hookah. The QT that is.

I really like their briefcases though!

Yeah, some of those new ones look kinda Aztec-ish to me, like they would be one of the treasures on Legends of the Hidden Temple or something. Go Blue Barracudas! I personally like hookahs with "pretty" decor on them, because its brutal...oxymoron? No way. But I agree those high dollar Mya's are gorgeous...I mean, brutal.

The mya I bought a few years ago had a real thick strong base - no problems.
I bought a bambino a while back and have gone through 2 bambino bases. While cleaning the inside with a brush (gently) they cracked. I now am using a QT base, which appears to be a little thicker, but time will tell if it holds up.

Copied from last thread:

"Part of the statistics data will be inherently flawed because there is no comparable method for determining which is a new Mya vs. what is an Old Mya. I have purchased about 10 Mya QTs now over the course of a year to give out as presents to friends. My Mya QT has very thick glass. It has solid feel in my hand. The last three I have purchased have had increasingly thin glass vases.

I have a Mya Vortex that has Romanian glass and it appears to be very thick. I have not personally handled a thin one, but believe others when they say that their Vortex glass is thin based on my experience with purchasing QTs. I have talked to M.B. from Mya Saray directly about their glass and the newer vases are coming in from other parts of the world in addition to where they were coming from previously. The first of the thin glass/glass problems I can remember seeing began with, I think, kram (now markchan) showing his vase bottom shearing completely off the rest of the vase.

Old Mya glass seems to be far superior than newer Mya glass."

i don't own one at this point...laying out 50 bucks for a qt soon though. I've had a good bit of experience with myas, and as david said, there's a lot of variance, especially with the new bases. A buddy of mine has a bohemian from about 2 years ago, and the base is thick as hell, solid as a rock, and beautiful. I was in the mya shop the other day, saw basically the same base, but it just felt a heck of a lot cheaper and thinner...still a beautiful looking hookah, and i'm sure perfectly fine as far as smoking goes, but i'd be more apprehensive to buy one of the new, bigger hookahs from them.

i'm not sure if I did my math right, but i think if you look at just the first two poll options and their additional stats, that Mya has a 75% Base Success rate, or 75% of Mya Bases do not brake/have not broken yet.

Granted, the sample size is only 36, so its not very accurate. if everyone could please vote who hasn't already... I'm sure we have at least 100 Mya owners on our lovely forum

edit: here's my math

27 (number of unbroken) / 36 (sample size) = x / 100

36x = 2700
x = 2700/36
x - 75 (%) Edited by SafeSearchOff

aight listen up..

i'll give you a break down on mya products. basically the old mya bases kick major ass! one of the best hookah's ever made.. great glass.. thank you for the Czech glass mya. This stuff is pretty sweet, the base has an extra thick bottom. I have had a 22" glass for 2+ years and beat the shit outta it. I would take that thing to the top of mountains jus in my back pack.. knocked it over a few time and the thing is still running strong.

well..

then mya decided to open a new glass factory in romania. after a bunch of rumors, mya promised that quote on quote "Indeed we have Build our second glass factory in Romania due to the high demand but our raw materials are still brought in from the Czech Republic to produce the same brand name, QUALITY MYA PRODUCTS. MYA is in the process of building its third Glass Factory in Saudi Arabic which means that customers might see MYA Glass made in Czech Republic, Romania, and soon Saudi Arabia." (hookahforum)

the new mya hookahs, mainly the pyramid, octagon, and diva are a joke. this glass is noticeably different. the new mya hookahs are a joke, i have broken two of them in the past summer and the thing never moved from my kitchen table.. shitty right? the glass is thin, the base doesn't have the extra thick glass.. and it is very soft glass. my friend, who happens to be a glass blower, told me tht this glass would need to be twice as thick to be effective because of how soft it is. Now tell me, do you really want a base like this?

PM me if you want a recommendation on what mya base you should buy.. i'll send you in the right direction.
