New Hookah. Taqseem’s Spider

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone. This thread is to tell everyone about my new hookah, the
Spider from Taqseem's Hookahs. If you have any questions or picture
requests, just let me know and I'll be sure to get to it asap.

Well it all started a week ago with my friend visiting me at school. We
were having a nice session with my large, single hose egyptian hookah
when my friend accidentally yanked it over by pulling the hose with his
foot...The hookah was resting at an angle upside down, and when I
turned it over, the stem was bent slightly... I tried carefully bending
it back, but ended up snapping the stem right off....So ends my
egyptians life, may she rest in pieces...

Well the next day, I emailed Sammer over at Taqseem hookahs and told
him I was in need of a hookah, and was interested in the Spider hookah
which can be found at www.taqseem.com. I got a quick
response back explaining that he was sold out of all his spiders, and
won't have anymore until he gets another shipment in, but had 3 saved
in his showroom for the time being, and said I could come take a look
if I wanted.

Well last sunday I made the trip from my school in Stockton, Ca up
Sacramento where his showroom/warehouse was located and met with the
man himself, Sammer. He showed me around his operations, chatted a bit,
and told me about upcoming things that people could look forward to
with his company, such as a new samsonite case. In his next shipment,
all of the small, medium and large Stargates will come with a very nice
Samsonite case for NO EXTRA CHARGE! Its to let people know they are
buying a real Stargate, not an imitation. On the case will have a metal
tag that says Stargate. So if you are thinking of getting a Stargate,
this might just sweeten the deal ;)

In addition to the Stargates coming with a case, Taqseem's Baby Junior
hookah will also come in a nice Samsonite Case for no extra charge.

Anywoo, on to the Spider. Sure enough when I took a look at Sammer's
showroom, he had three gorgeous Spiders on display. Two were silver,
one with a red plexiglass window, and the other with a green window,
and the third was a black nickel finish with a black window. Well I
obviously had to get the black nickel to match my Stargate ;)

From this picture, its hard to see through the black window, but you
can still see the water level when looking at it at the right angle. It
would be nice to see the smoke like in the Stargate, but it still looks
gangster ;)

Here is a closeup picture of the hose connections.

As you can see in the picture, the spider comes with two nifty little
hose plugs, so when I want to smoke by myself, I don't have to worry
about corking hoses or anything, just stick in the plug. The little
rubber grommets are the same that come with the Stargate's hose
connections.

As for the hoses, they are the same hoses that I got with my Stargate.
I'm not sure what brand of hoses these are, but they are great.
Washable, nice wooden handles with metal tips. I got three of these
with my spider. They might be Mya's, but I'm not sure. They sort of
look like Myas.

Now this is probably my favorite part of this hookah. I know some
people have had problems with the threads on their Stargate wearing
out, so Sammer was trying to fix this problem, and I think he got it
spot on. Instead of having a screw in base, he is now using these
"ribbed" rubber grommets. The difference between these grommets and
other typical base grommets is the little ribs that are on the side.

When shoving the stem into the base, you can actually hear it click 3
times when putting it in, and it really holds well. Its easy to pop on
and off, and keeps a very nice tight seal. I really like this method!

Currently, only the Atlantis hookah and the Spider hookah come with this rubber grommet as apposed to a screw in base.

And finally, here is a picture of everything disassembled. This is
pretty much everything that came with it, minus the three hoses.

Notice that in the picture above, the downstem that goes into the hookah unscrews, I guess making it easier to transport ;)

As for how this thing smokes, its a beast...Nothing more I can say than
that.. When determining if I should get a hookah with autoseal or not,
I really didn't want to have to deal with constricted air flow
problems, and thought to myself that it would be easy enough to just
tell my friends to plug the hose while not smoking, and it has been
working out just fine.

I'm still trying to get the best water level down on this thing, sort
of hard with the dark window, but it hits like a dream... Not sure why
it hits so well, it could be the longer distance the smoke is
traveling, or the HUGE amount of water this thing can hold, or
whatever. It just smokes really well..

Also, there is virtually no problems with water getting into the hose
on the spider like the Stargate. On the stargate, you had to have just
the perfect water level or else sometimes water would get into the
hose, but with this thing, its not an issue.

And finally, the price... ;)

Sammer's spider normally retail in smoke shops for around 149.99 -
199.99, and 129.99 on his Ebay store, but he wanted me to tell you guys
that for forum members, he will sell the spiders for 99.99. Just email
Sammer and let him know you are a hookahforum.com member so he can make
sure to give you a deal.

So thats about it folks. Well, thats about all I can think of right
now. If you have any questions for me about this hookah or my Stargate,
please ask away. If you would like to see pictures of anything on the
spider or the Stargate, feel free to ask and I'll get them as soon as I
can.

And if you have any questions for Sammer at Taqseem, I'm sure you could ask it in here and he will fill you in if he stops by.

Thanks for listening to my adventure. Its always fun getting a new
member to your hookah family, I'm sure you could all agree. Happy
smoking everyone!

WOW! I am absolutly IN LOVE with that hookah! My next purchase was going to be a single hose bohemian Mya, but it looks like i've changed my mind. I actually like the design even better than my stargate- and its the same price that I payed for it. I wish I would have waited for this one to come out before snagging my SG.

I like it better than my SG as well, but I havnt been too impressed in the way sammer has taken care of me since I got the hookah.  Yash, check the threads on the small downpipe into the vase.  My SG had mis-matched threads here and it doesnt "take" as a result.  Sammer never would reply about this problem.  Plus the glue around the plexiglass seems to slowly leak water.  I dont know, it looks nice, looks like crap next to that spider though.  I could just be happier I guess.
its way to dark for my taste, its a nice design but i would go with the mya
Yeah, this is pretty damn dark, but there are other colors to choose
from. The only options I had were silver with either a blue or red
window, or this black on black, and I wanted it to match my Stargate,
so I went with the black.

I agree that the threads were a problem on the Stargate, so I'm really
looking forward to this thing rocking for many years to come with the
rubber ribbed grommet.

Keep the questions/comments coming if you got em, even if your comment
is that you don't like something about it. I just want everyone who
might be considering this hookah to know everything about it. I'm very
happy with it for the week that I've owned it, and I hope it holds up
for many more to come.
how much do stargate's cost?and where can i buy them from?
Stargates can be found here www.taqseem.com, but there is no
shopping system on the site. You have to email Sammer over at Taqseem's
hookahs and place an order that way, and they cost 100.00 I believe
still..

wow! that looks great , looks very much like my ABYSS from Hookahshisha.combut with a slightly different stem. it consists of the same bowl , same white grommets and black 1's and the ash tray is the same aswell...the base looks HUGE though and it looks amazing! what a cheap price for us forum members. very nice to see sammer looking after us well!! the way the bottom water pipe screws into the hookah is also great. i have excatly the same way of opening my hookah and it is extremely easy to clean!
that spider looks really cool.  at first i didnt really like the stargate series, but they've definitely grown on me.
how does it smoke?
Well I just found a water level that works best for me, and it hits
like a champ. I mean I never really have a problem with harshness
anymore because of having a couple years experience under my belt, but
thing is as smooth as my Stargate.

Its pretty newbie friendly as well. You don't have to worry about
wearing down threads because there are none. Its just a rubber ribbed
grommet which works GREAT! Just set her up the same way you would any
hookah, and you can have at it.

This is my first multi hose hookah, and I have to say its easier than I
thought it would be. I was always worried that getting more than one
hose could complicate things, but its just like smoking out of a large
single hose, except you have to plug your hose when not smoking. Very
simple.

Hookahduck, I think you had the same issue with the underwater down-pipe threads.  If so I want to tell everyone that Kelly at taqseem.com emailed me asking for a shipping address and the stem would be shipped out ASAP.  I will keep you all posted.
I want this hookah!  I emailed taqseem, and they said it's only available
in silver/green.
Probably just for the time being. He's already gone through a couple
shipments worth of these spiders, and when I got mine, Sammer only had
3 saved. I got the black on black, there were two silvers, one with a
green window and the other with blue.

I'm pretty sure if you wait a while for another shipment, they will get
more of a variety in. Just ask Sammer if its possible for him to hold
one with your color prefereance the next time he gets them in. Not sure
if this is possible, but it wouldn't hurt to ask Sammer.
