ZenSilk
WOW... a July bad batch? Huh.. Usually they are in Sept. and Oct. ..Damn it musta caught a hurricane... or been opened... Bad batches happen, that's the one gamble you take when buying tobacco.Ketchup is the smell everyone knows = shit batch. I have heard cases of people acclimating it and it actually gettign better... but acclimating it for a week. Try it!The smell, by the way, is a sweet white wine flavor. RayVer
maybe a typhoon hit the Al Fakher cargo ship??? heh j.k...... on a serious note thats a little out of hand how bad the grape batches from AF have been coming. I have luckly not encountered one. Has anyone representing AF stepped up to explain that the hell is going on?

lp640man
The AF box had the new seal on it, so that rules out tampering. The actuall bag was sealed so I dont know..

tinman
I have ran into the same problem...I had it sitting out getting ready to smoke and it was pretty bad. But my gf and two room mates said it smelled great so I figured lets try smoking it. Well for me it smoked as bad as it smelled, but my gf and room mates loved it...I was like wtf? Everytime I took a hit I almost gagged. I dont know though, I thought it was just me.-Russ
lp640man
hmmmm... I'll try both ...a fresh mix... and another bowl that has been aclimated for 20 minutes...sounds gross if it made u wana throw up...
MechAnt
I hear that the acclimating does help a bit followed by just letting it sit in its container for a few days prior to smoking. Try that out
lazria
I too recently suffered the "bad batch" of AF Grape. One tub was real bad, even after sitting a week or so, it's wasn't better - in fact it was WORSE. The second tub smelt off, but after sitting around half open for a week, it smelt fine & tastes perfect.First batch was Oct 2007, second was Sept 2007. I've had two Aug 2007 batches that were perfectly fine.JD - the bad batches are so disgusting, I wouldn't insult a Hookah by burning that chemical/rotten mess thru it. It made me want to toss my dinner at first smell. (((added Producation dates))) Edited February 6, 2008 by lazria
lp640man
Ok, so faroct 2007sep 2007july 2007Have been bad,I'll probably go to my local shop and look for aug 2007 and if I confirm the aug 2007 is good then I guess that will be the temporary solution. Codename067
Thanks for the heads up. I'll make sure not to buy it if it has the July date printed on it. [Not that I have been buying it often, but yeah]
poopooshaboo
The first tub of AF White grape I bought reeked of ketchup. I smoked it anyways, and it was one of the best smokes I've ever had. Just because it smells bad, don't write it off.
Bryantos
Yeah, The Casbah, a hookah bar here, continues to sell it and allow people to choose it to smoke when they've had nothing but bad batches for the last 5 months. I got ripped and just threw it out. Tastes and smells horrible.
