  1. QUOTE (giant ninja robot @ Mar 24 2009, 07:41 PM) Eric can you expound on what method the arabs you speak of use? I'm assuming you mean they pack tighter with everything but it was somewhat unclear to me and I would love to hear your thoughts on packing in general. It seems from a couple recent posts that the sprinkle method is being challenged and I'd love to try out other methods that may produce a better smoke. On topic, to reiterate what others have said, it's like learning to ride a bike, once you get it you get it and it really is FANTASTIC tobacco, very good flavors, smooth, copious amount of smoke when heat is right, and alot of longevity. I was frustrated at first but soon got it right and now love it. Moreover I live in Michigan which is notorious for random weather changes. Could you help a fellow Michigander, cause my sessions with Tangiers are hit n miss? I've tried many different ways, but cant seem to be consistent whatsoever!
  2. Yea Ninja its ON Warren just West of Schafer. called World Hookah, but they dont have the GREATEST selection, BUT they do have the kilo Nakhla double apple, which I couldnt find anywhere besides this place. I think it was going for $20 last time i checked (2 weeks ago). Oh they also have Coco Nara's 16 piece packs for $3, cheaper than Hookah Shisha and no waiting for shipping (84 piece for $15 + shipping charges)
  3. I found some hard candy flavoring oils that include marshmallow as one of the flavors they carry. I figured if the flvorings can withstand 300 degree cooking of hard candy that they should work for hookah? Im gonna try putting some in my next batch of homemade shisha!
  4. so far the only place I've seen that carries kilo nakhla (double apple mind you ) was World Hookah in Warren half mile East of Schafer.
  5. there's hookah shops ALL over Dearborn, even in some gas stations have hookahs lol. you should've gone to the Smokers on Warren just West of Schafer, about quarter mile down from al ajami. they have a lot of pipes and pretty good selection of shisha including their own locally made shisha (Asfahani) which is also pretty damn good. also a lot of supermakets have hookahs and you could usually bargain prices with them.
  6. for you guys that are getting 4+ hours of smoke and using Tangiers, how long is your start-up? when I first started smoking it would take about 10 minutes to actually start getting decent smoke/flavor and I would have a great long lasting session. lately ive been pretty impatient and add an extra coal to get smoke started within the first 3-5 puffs, but my sessions wouldnt reach anywhere near an hour and would be pretty harsh in the beginning. are you guys starting very slow with low amount of coal?
  7. QUOTE (SimplexCoda @ Mar 13 2009, 09:11 PM) Im pretty sure that the hoses on HS are plastic and the ones scalli is looking making are nylon which is far less brittle. I stand corrected. the hose in the video looked very much the same as the one I have and when he blew into it, it made the "straw whistling" sound ya know, which is just like the hose i bought from H-S.
  8. I'd really hate to burst your bubble there Scalli cause you've been on an inventive roll. Hookah Shisha Central already sell these kinda hoses. I think you can probably one-up them with the custom handles cause their handles are plastic. I actually have two of these and would def recommend the material if you're not really looking for the traditional loooking hose. http://www.hookah-shisha.com/store/pc/view...p;idproduct=486
  9. we were at al ajami a week ago for a birthday dinner. glad you enjoyed dearborn. when were you here?
  10. whatever happened to absinthe flavor. I wish Tangiers made a double apple flavor. Any considerations Eric?
  11. QUOTE (Sonthert @ Nov 14 2008, 05:18 PM) QUOTE (cymptom @ Nov 14 2008, 02:00 AM) I normally try to restrain myself when it comes to giving flavor suggestions, because I imagine it gets to be really annoying. But threads like this make me feel justified in letting em loose. Is rose ever happening? Honeysuckle? I'd like to see flavors that use any of these tastes and fragrances in some way: Frankincense, Cypress, Bergamot, Clove, Sandalwood, Rosewood, Rosemary, Lavender, Patchouli. Yes, I've been spending a lot of money on shaving soap lately. That's besides the point. I know you said you've tried some of these before and they didn't work, but something has to be possible, perhaps some blend of the above fragrances with each other or with other base flavors. More depth! More muskiness! More spiciness! What ever happened to the chai flavor that was in development? [nag]Oh, and mulling spice. Just thought of that one for the first time ever [/nag] Finally a voice of rationale. No BBQ Rib flavor, no fried chicken, Krab or gyros flavors in the works. Rosemary-Obnoixous Patchoulli-OK, but had that get stronger and harsher thing going on. Bergamont- [strokes long white beard] hmmm. Clove-Done. We already sell it. Sandalwood-Hmmm Rosewood-Don't think so Lavender-Trying to get some of these guys to do flavors like this is a bitch. I tried to get several guys to do a violet or hemp flavor to no avail. Lavender is a good call though. Frankincense-Not food safe Cypress-Really? what happened with absinthe or a double apple flavor?
  12. QUOTE (Sonthert @ Jun 19 2008, 10:55 PM) New Tangiers flavors Coming soon: New Pink Grapefruit candy, Sour (for mixing), Absinthe, Kashmir Cherry in regular Noir style (Unwashed). Finally a double apple-ish Tangiers!!
