Ch Quicklights And Small Phunnel
dakur001 replied to contristo's topic in Discussion Group for all Hookah Lovers
I personally find three CH quicklights to be too much for a small phunnel; when the first two start to die down (30-45 minutes) I'll throw a third on, but three right off the bat makes for harsh smoke in my experience. I would also agree that Coco Naras are ideal, but when you don't have the appropriate resources for lighting them, I think two Hookah John QL's are the next best thing for a small phunnel. -
I'm not sure if you're anywhere near Sterling, VA, but if so you ought to check out Mya's factory store, I'm sure they'd be able to recommend something that would be appropriate for your base. Another thing to consider is that if you're looking for something with an optimal pull, you might have some difficulty doing that with four hoses on one hookah. Moreover, I'd say that generally speaking, Myas are solid hookahs but their stems don't always make for a great pull compared to something like a KM (I think both Myas and KMs are great for different reasons, so please don't see this as shameless KM promotion, but I do firmly believe that KMs have an easier draw). Basically, if you're looking for a meaningful difference in your smoking experience, you might consider going the extra mile and doing more reconfiguring with your setup than just changing the stem.

I'd put another vote in for California Dream...it's not phenomenal, but it's a "safe" flavor, if that makes sense...sort of fruity, not off-puttingly so, though. As for packing, it's not especially hard stuff to work with, I smoked a fair amount of it when I was new to hookah and never managed to ruin a bowl.

I think the only reason to be concerned would be if you're the type to catch a really heavy buzz very easily, then the combination might be a little nauseating. Otherwise, I don't think you have anything to worry about. Good luck with the surgery, hope you recover quickly.

Best Way To Make Hookah Healthier? Coals Maybe?
dakur001 replied to mathows's topic in Discussion Group for all Hookah Lovers
QUOTE (mattarios2 @ Aug 27 2009, 03:18 PM) Eh, I disagree with you on that mclovin, I smoke one bowl a day and I am concerned with my health. When I Started smoking i stopped eating bad food, soda, candy, I began to research unhealthy ingredients in frozen foods/store bought foods, hydration levels, and all different things. The way I see it, some people smoke because they enjoy to smoke, but just because they smoke doesn't mean they aren't concerned about their health. It made me want to balance my life more, because of smoking I stopped doing a lot of other unhealthy things that I used to do. Believe it or not I wasn't concerned with my health, until I started smoking ... weird right? It does make sense when you think about it though ... well I think so. I'm inclined to agree with this. I think when you find something you love that happens to be undeniably detrimental to your health, you become more serious about reevaluating and if necessary altering other aspects of your life. I'd say that I've started eating better and exercising more since I started smoking hookah more regularly...I find that doing these things isn't difficult. Quitting hookah, on the other hand, would be very challenging for me. -
Best Way To Make Hookah Healthier? Coals Maybe?
dakur001 replied to mathows's topic in Discussion Group for all Hookah Lovers
Maybe herbal shisha, I guess. But at the end of the day, tobacco isn't good for you, and if you're really that concerned, maybe cut back a little. Some people eat fast food everyday and say, "I'm really fat, how can I lose weight?" and the answer is simply don't eat so many damn cheeseburgers. It's not the ideal answer, no. It would be really sweet if you could eat whatever you wanted and not clog your arteries, but that's simply not the way things are. So you have to practice moderation, and learn to enjoy the things you love less frequently. Hmmm...now I want a cheeseburger. Sorry for the rambling analogy. -
How Many Coals Do You Use? (coconaras)

QUOTE (redjako @ Aug 27 2009, 02:29 PM) Lit coals split just fine..they don't shower shit everywhere like when they are Un lit. But whatever works for you Though, myself, and all my friends at first, were all VERY backed away when I was splitting them post lit...they just snip apart. Well, maybe I'll give it a shot outside first so I can overcome my fear of flying ignited coal chunks without worrying about causing any damage to the building. If they really do just snip apart, I guess there's no reason to be afraid. -

QUOTE (McLovin600 @ Aug 27 2009, 11:44 AM) I cut before I light (more like bash actually lol). i would be homeless if I cut lit coals! See, this is what I'm afraid of. And I live in a dorm, so not only would I make myself homeless, but I would make several hundred other people homeless as well. I may have to stick with what McLovin600 and FamiliarJoe are suggesting for this reason. -
QUOTE (indian_villager @ Aug 27 2009, 11:00 AM) QUOTE (fineout @ Aug 27 2009, 08:35 AM) dude, as an engineer mostly all of my books is 500+ pages and 300+ dollars, ive had book bills over 700$ before for the semester, then when i go to sell them back..i cant because they change the edition every year..have fun Your school sucks. For us its the luck of the draw. They keep the editions running longer sometimes. At my school, they have this system where the edition changes as soon as I've completed the course and need to sell my now-out-of-date textbook back. I swear to god, there's a gnome or something that can tell when I'm coming to the bookstore with a book to sell who promptly alerts the publisher that a new edition should be issued.

Another option would be to go in halfsies, thirdsies, or whatever, depending on whether or not you have other friends in the class...if it's a 100-level math class I presume you're just taking it as a gen-ed, and don't have any interest in leafing through the pages in your free time, so that way you all could just take turns borrowing it to do homework, reading, etc. I feel your pain, though, not looking forward to dropping hundreds of dollars on new books for the next semester this week myself...it's never fun.

QUOTE (INCUBUSRATM @ Aug 27 2009, 06:56 AM) Thanks man. I really hope it gets here by Saturday. If they ship it out today (I ordered last night at 6:30) that's allowing a good 2-3 days... I'll be honest, it's kind of hit or miss with their order processing; sometimes, they've gotten my order out the same day, others it's taken them two days. I highly doubt this particular order would make it out the same day, seeing as how the order was placed at 6:30pm, but if they process it and ship it first thing this morning I'd say you have a good chance getting it Saturday. Good luck either way, and also good choice on the QT.

QUOTE (INCUBUSRATM @ Aug 27 2009, 07:39 AM) QUOTE (combs08 @ Aug 26 2009, 03:26 PM) Just to tell you, you probably won't be able to get a refund since you've smoked out of it already. Unless the dude is awesome. But good job going with a bunch of 50gram packs. That's what I did. I about 10 of AF, 3 of Al Waha, and 2 Romman, and a 100gram tin of Starbuzz which was the worst decision of my life. Super over-rated. But I'm glad I did it this way so that I know which tobacco's are my favorite and I can smoke again and again while others are crap (AW Guava.....ewww). But good luck on getting the QT....hope the person who sold it to you is really cool! Happy smoking! Nah, I got a refund for the crappy Inhale. I had gotten it off eBay. The seller was super cool about it. I told them about how it was leaking air and they said, sure, no problem, ship it back for full refund. I just ordered my Mya QT two-hose with a black vase off of Hookah-Shisha.com for $59.99 shipped. I used the "hookahforum" discount code, so basically that took off the shipping. Can't wait to get it. Hopefully they ship it out today and I get it Saturday so my buddy who's staying at my apt can smoke it before he leaves. And I can't wait to try me some more shisha flavors! Btw, how long has it taken for you guys to get stuff from Hookah-Shisha.com? Usually it takes them about five days to get stuff to me, but I'm in Maryland, quite far away from their headquarters in Austin, TX. Seeing as how you live in Tennessee, I wouldn't be that surprised if you got it in 2-3 days. Not 100% sure though, maybe folks who live closer to your area can be of more help.

Looking For A Good Budget Hookah...
dakur001 replied to Chreees's topic in Discussion Group for all Hookah Lovers
QUOTE (INCUBUSRATM @ Aug 26 2009, 04:40 PM) Egyptian style isn't a must. Really she just wants a nice looking hookah. I'm really leaning towards the Mya or the Ebony. Have you considered taking advantage of the free Mini Mya Acrylic with a $100 order that Hookah-Shisha has? I know you said you don't want to go over $80, but you need shisha and coals to smoke, so you could always stock up on supplies and get a hookah for your trouble. Plus, the hookah isn't bad at all, I use my Mini Mya quite often when I need something portable. If I recall correctly, you can get the two-hose version for an additional $5, if two-hoses is a must. -
You have to wonder how people that stupid manage to get a driver's license in the first place.

If you want Egyptian style for $50, this might be a good option: http://www.hookah-shisha.com/p-96-scarab-1-hose-hookah.html Used to have this a while back, it smokes nicely, but I think the QT would be a better option at the end of the day. The Scarab isn't a bad hookah, and if Egyptian style is an absolute must this is something you ought to consider. Edit: My best advice, though, would be to talk your girlfriend into liking the looks of the QT.
