1. If you're talking about the boro tubing, I buy it by the case in 5 foot lengths. Thanks for the offer, but I'm good for a year or so Jimbo-
2. Howdy, I had said I'd post a few pictures of other pipes I've made, and now that I have a new camera, I figured I'd post pictures of the one I use now. It uses a crystal wine decanter from Pottery barn, called a genie, it was like $30 bucks. I bought four of them and one ended up with a chip in the mouth, so I put stained glass around it and kept it. I sold the other three as hookah pipes. The second picture shows what it looks like at the store Anyway, I'll post more pictures of it with the stem out and of the top, when I'm not using, lol. 3. He said he didnt want sugar in his bowl, I was just pointing out that molasses is sugar, and its the crappiest part of the sugar process. I started this thread, and I dont remember telling anyone it was safe, it was just free from nicotine.
4.
Yeah but sugar is a known carcinogen, and I know that smoking anything is bad for your health but I really don't want any sugar in my bowl. People should really think if herbal shisha really DOES make for a healthier smoke, or something even worse than tobacco.
You might want to look up where molasses comes from before you run on about sugar. Molasses is the left over byproduct of the sugar manufacturing process. Carmel is nothing more than burned sugar, people eat burnt sugar all the time.
5. In the title you mention "Compete" so I'll assume you mean from a business aspect. Mouth blowing consistent vases would be some work, to say the least. A fruitwood plug of some sort would be needed to control the top opening dimension. (needs to be pretty accurate) Keeping the bottom heavy would be nice as well. As far as the metal work for the stem, its just artwork, some your imagination is the only real limit. Unless you buy premade hose ports, this is the area where it becomes a pain. Anyone can attach a piece of vinyl hose to a hookah pipe, nut making them accept a standard hose and still look nice is more of a challenge. I make hookah pipes on a regular basis, and the hose connection is the only real challenge. Good luck in your adventure! Jim-
6. Doesnt really matter if its from the pharmacy in my opinion (And that of many smokers) The stuff from the drug store or Walmart isnt vegetable base, and it gives most people headaches when used in smoking products. I used that 20 dollar a bottle stuff from behind the counter at Rite-aid and it gave me a nasty headache. Now I use the veg stuff from Now Foods, and never get a headache, when I ran out once, I used the rite-aid stuff and instantly got another headache. I get the now foods stuff for like 8 bucks a bottle, the drug store stuff is easily 4 times as much.
7. The glass tube is all the same, its 1/2 inch OD heavy wall. The stem is all one piece, and I've made them 14-36 inches long. I make my own bowl gaskets that only taper on the OD or outside. The inside ID is a straight hole with a single raised ring to assure it seals to the stem. I've also turned aluminum tops that epoxy on and take a regular seal and hold an ashtray. I broke my camera eons ago, and haven't replaced it yet, but one of these days I'll try and get some more pictures posted. I've done these with copper covered base seals, copper ivy wrapped around the stem and base, I tend to try new things pretty regularly. Jimbo-
8. Feel free to make and sell as many as you like I sell these to friends and friends of friends, lol. The glass stem is the greatest improvement there is for serious smokers. I've never run a brush or anything through my stem, just hot tap water. Its still crystal clear. The biggest issue is the crappy vase necks. The diameters are rarely consistent which makes using O rings tough. I machine each stem base to match the vase (base) I use. If you break the vase you need to buy a new one that fits the same. I'm working on a new stem base that will fit a bigger span of vases but it wont be aluminum, it will be polyurethane. The stem will pull out easily, as well. So you could have multiple length stems, as well as simple changes to how many hoses you can use. Jimbo-
9. Not to be a jerk, but I gave the "straight scope" (Illegal) You pasted an article, LOL.
10. You CAN grow your own tobacco, but you CAN'T make your own liquor, lol. Its called moon-shining!! Beer and wine fermentation is OK distilling is a no-no )
11. Hey man,
Are you selling any of your work yet? Specifically the glass downstems?
Thanks!

12. LOL, Yes, people are overly sensitive when it comes to copper 1/3rd of the homes in America have copper water pipes, soldered together with 60/40 lead solder. In some parts of the U.S. that number is closer to 90%. There is a downside to both copper and brass in my opinion. They both get nasty dirty very quickly. I dont smoke thru my brass and copper hookahs very often anymore, since my glass stemmed units are SOOO much easier to clean. Jimbo-
13. Hello, The glass is epoxied into the aluminum. The epoxy is designed to break down at around 300 degrees F, so if you break a stem, it can be replaced. I've tried other means, but I like this method best. As for it being "Fragile", well it is glass, but being borosilicate (Like Pyrex) its extremely tough stuff. I'm currently working on fittings that allow the use of standard hoses as well as my own hose design. My hose is a smooth bore FDA grade silicone, and easy as heck to clean. The smooth bore makes it draw really nice As for a purge valve, yes they will have them on the single hose model. I'll post more pictures soon. Jim-
14. Howdy, A project I've been working on for a little while now, is a glass stemmed hookah. This uses a 1/2 inch diameter piece of heavy wall boroscilicate (pyrex type) glass tube. The tube the hose attaches to is glass as well. These are attached to a turned billet aluminum base, and fits in a standard hookah vase. Its a dream to smoke thru.... You will be able to buy these at a future date. Jimbo-
