I don't think I have ever suggested this before, but try doing a search. This topic seems to come up very frequently over the years. There is nicotine is hookah tobacco, you are inhaling the smoke, of course you will get addicted to nicotine from smoking a hookah. The more you smoke the more likely it becomes and the sooner it will happen, but most everyone starts off smoking occasionally and it steadily increases, then it seems that all of a sudden they're smoking really frequently and are hooked. It is a risk that comes with every drug you put into your system.

I have a one hosed Sphinx and a two hosed pharaoh, but I always smoke it with a plug in the second hose port so it is essentially one hosed. They both smoke GREAT, I don't think one smokes better then the other, so it really comes down to which you think looks better, and how important portability is. I smoke my Pharaoh much more often then the Sphinx, but thats mainly because I prefer larger hookahs.

Dcrooksjr, what differance does the lifestyles of some celebrities have to do with a discussion about the science of global climate change? It has nothing to do with it. If we are going to have this discussion then the sources should be peer reviewed, otherwise they are garbage as far as I am concerned. Start by reading http://www.pnas.org/cgi/content/full/104/47/18866 then read the articles cited by it. The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) is of course peer reviewed.

Shakiness And Lightheaded
joseph* replied to NoPeace's topic in Discussion Group for all Hookah Lovers
The affect of nicotine is big, but there is also a lot of Carbon Monoxide (CO) in hookah smoke. Make sure you are in a well ventilated room, sitting in a smoke filled room for too long can definitely make you feel sick. -

I light bulk charcoal (nour) on my stove all the time. I just turn the fan on high and there is no smell. -
Syrian V. Egyptian
joseph* replied to thecoalition's topic in Discussion Group for all Hookah Lovers
Male bowls were more popular, so it was harder to find a new bowl if you had a Syrian hookah, so now most all Syrian hookahs use a male bowl too. As far as I know, the main difference between a Syrian hookah and an Egyptian hookah is style. Edit: Made a silly mistake, fixed now -
I didn't read all the posts, but for those who care about science and reality over ideology, go to www.pubmed.com, search for global climate change or global warming, and start reading the peer reviewed articles. Reading the actual research is the best way to go. I am studying biochem, not climate, but I can tell you that when I go to journal clubs or lab meetings, we don't look to places like www.worldnetdaily.com for scientific findings, as it is not peer reviewed material written by scientists.

Fumari peach is pretty good, but its way to expensive and doesn't have enough body to the smoke.

QUOTE (oino @ Dec 11 2007, 01:13 AM) I understand that there is tar when you smoke a hookah but why do the packages say zero tar? Probably because the packages are made in a country where there is no real oversight of such things and misleading packages are allowed. I am sure they are saying there is no tar in the unburned tobacco, which is true. By definition, tar can't be formed until the tobacco is burned in the hookah. There is particulite matter in hoookah smoke, maybe it dosen't leave a yellow stain on a tissue, but its there. I love hookah, and am not going to quit, but we should all be aware of the risks and the rewards.

QUOTE (neffertiti @ Dec 11 2007, 12:16 AM) so...I love peach shisha and some are amazing and some or very, very bad. which ones are your favorites. or, what is your favorite shisha that you would reccomend to anyone? Rommans and waha make the best peach ma’assel IMO.

Do you guys know what the definition of "tar" wit regard sto tobacco is????? It is the particulate matter from the partial combustion of tobacco that solidifies in your lungs. You can't really "add tar" to tobacco, although some tobaccos will produce more. There is certainly tar produced by the combustion of shisha while smoking a hookah. Anyone who says otherwise is misinformed or lying to themselves.

Ummm, I don't see how Ron Paul is going to solve anything. If someone's child has cancer, or some other sever health problem, or some sort of chronic illness that will last a lifetime, Ron Paul's suggestions wouldn't cover anything. Every other industrialized western country has government provided health care. American's like to claim they are smart, but every one else has manged to arrange something yet we are too stupid too.

The glyph is a great hookah, one of the best. I would highly recommend it, although MYAs are great as well. Tough decision. -
Chrome Marble Stem From Ss

QUOTE (quickbyname @ Dec 9 2007, 01:50 AM) Hey Everyone, just wanted your thoughts on this syrian from social smoke, or do you have any favourites that are worth a look at for my first syrian Could you post a link to the hookah you are considering? -
Size doesn't really affect the smoking qualities of the pipe. MYA QTs smoke great, and they are tiny. I have hookahs of all sizes, and I generally prefer the larger ones for their looks. If you want to take your hookah to places outside your home a smaller one is probably better. As far as CO (carbon monoxide) goes, the size of the pipe has no effect. Longer stem can't remove CO, and the water won't remove it either.

Nakhla doesn't tend to be as wet as other brands, and is definitely drier then Rommans. There are some Nakhla flavors that are among my favorites, such as their 2 apple and sweet melon. The main thing is to tinker with the amount of heat you are using. I find that I need a little less with nakhla then with Rommans. Good luck getting it to smoke better. Nakhla is one of the first brands of ma’assel, so it is definitely a classic.

Smoking Outside (during Winter)
joseph* replied to Ooph's topic in Discussion Group for all Hookah Lovers
Get your own place. I guess thats not an option for everyone, but I would say that as long as your parents are paying the mortgage, its their rules. When you get your own house/apartment you can do what you like in it and they cannot stop you. When I had room mates who didn't want smoking inside, I used to smoke outside in all weather , even when it was below 30 degrees out. Just dress warm and its fine. Now I live in an apartment by myself and its awesome, I smoke inside whenever I want. -
Well, not to bring up anything to old, but I took a look at the troop levels and populations posted for bopth the USA and Australia. Obviously you can't compare the raw numbers of troops there since the USA has a larger population, so I calculated the percentage of the populations represented in Iraq, which seems like a more fair assessment. Australia: (800 troops/ 20,000,000)*100=0.004% of the population USA: (130,000 troops/298,400,000) * 100= 0.044% of the population That means, as a percentage of population the USA has 11 times more soldiers in Iraq. This means to have the same proportian of their population in Iraq Australia would need to have 8713 troops there. Not that I think they should do this, I don't think the solution to this mess is a millitary one. Killing people is not the only solution to a problem, and in fact is rarely the correct course of action.

How Many Hookah's Do You Own?
joseph* replied to SmokingDjinn's topic in Discussion Group for all Hookah Lovers
4, a small one, a medium Egyptian, a large Egyptian, and a modern hookah, -
I don't care about a politicians religion unless they try to force it on the population (like Bush). I will quote on of Americas greatest presidents, JKF. " I believe in an America where the separation of church and state is absolute--where no Catholic prelate would tell the President (should he be Catholic) how to act, and no Protestant minister would tell his parishioners for whom to vote--where no church or church school is granted any public funds or political preference--and where no man is denied public office merely because his religion differs from the President who might appoint him or the people who might elect him. I believe in an America that is officially neither Catholic, Protestant nor Jewish--where no public official either requests or accepts instructions on public policy from the Pope, the National Council of Churches or any other ecclesiastical source--where no religious body seeks to impose its will directly or indirectly upon the general populace or the public acts of its officials--and where religious liberty is so indivisible that an act against one church is treated as an act against all. "
