1. Apoc, you are very right about them being very, very nice. I just got mine (5 days after the order), and i cannot say anything except it is great. The stem is heavy, sturdy and very shiny. The base is intricately plated and has frosted and clear areas. The hose looks good, especially the wooden ends. The locking hard case is sturdy(although i locked myself out of it at first). The largest complaint I can muster is uneven glaze on the ceramic bowl, and that doesnt bother me at all. In all, i am very pleased with socialsmoke.com. My order arrived on time, exactly as i imagined it. The hookah is Mya-made, and the screw-on base is very nice. Oh, and it was airtight out of the box. Woo-hoo!
2. Thank you for the facts MRBubble, and for your personal story that proves them!
3. anyone have experience with "bohemian glass" bases? They are prettier but i was wondering if they are any more durable?
4. the consensus on tar per cigarette is between 15-20mg per cig would it be correct to assume that "one tobacco head" means one bowl of shisha, and they're measuring the content of one liter of hookah water?
5.
thats actually somewhat surprising, plenty of ppl get a big buzz from the hookah, one wouldve thoguht it was the nicotine, anything else it cud be?
i came across an interesting possible answer on shishapipe.net, a British site: [b]Q: Is Shisha Harmfull?Technically speaking yes, although only negligibly. The water takes away approximately 90% of the harmful chemicals (excluding THC), and so a pipe contains merely 0.5% nicotine and 0% tar. Also, if its not inhaled, there is no danger of lung cancer. So maybe THC is present in shisha in small amounts, as nicotine appears in small amounts in marijuana?
6. Math, i'm strongly considering buying a glyph from hookah-shisha and i was wondering about the stem. Do you know what metal its made of and how are the hoses that come with it?
7. also the study says that a regular bowl of unsmoked shisha contains as much nicotine as two non-light cigarettes. but like it says later, the hookah filters out around 80-90% of the nicotine anyway.
8. Not to condone the use of weed in a hookah, but the "cleaner" i've seen on hookah sites is also sold to clean weed-implements, so i think it would remove  enough resin that it wouldnt show up on a field test.
9. I ran the german study(thanks for the link Kofod) through freetranslations.com and learned what i could from it.  it has a picture of two air filters, one that was exposed to hookah smoke and one exposed to cigarette smoke. hookah is on the left, cigarette on the right to quote the study, the one on the left is after a normal, large amount of apple flavored shisha, and the one on the right is from one "ultra-light" cigarette. Very encouraging indeed. The other data they have shows that almost all nicotine is filtered by the hookah. There was one other table on the effects of the coals on hookah smoke but i couldnt figure that one out. thanks again for the link Kofod.
10. i'm pretty sure tar forms from burning most plant matter, and that impression is the only reason why i'm suspicious of the 0 tar claim. maybe shisha contains only non-tar-causing plant parts?
11.
I'm sure something else will come out soon, but I doubt it will be positive since shisha smoking is getting a little too popular for any government to handle (much less the one we fall under here).
too true, mr. bubble. i was also interested in the lung cancer rates in that area, especially with hookah being a centuries old tradition. regarding inhaling, i havent found anything that says one way is more common than the other there.
12. I know a little bit of german, so maybe i'll hunt down that study. with cleaner tobacco, no direct flame, and water filtering, hookah simply cant be as bad as cigarette smoking, but it'd be nice to have some scientific data.
