  1. QUOTE (hday @ May 20 2008, 02:46 AM) But plastic probably isn't the best idea, and if you've got a good local hardware store they'll have stainless steel ball bearings which would work much better. meh, I personally wouldn't worry about plastic if it's in the hose-base connection where most of the one-way ball-valves are. that area barely gets hot, so i don't think you should be worried about fumes or anything
  2. QUOTE (jimmyspacebob @ May 20 2008, 12:00 AM) Goldschlager is awesome. Its almost 50%! Take a few shots of that and you won't be abe to set up the hookah! hahahaha hell yeah, goldschlager and jagermeister are probably the best liquers in the world
  3. QUOTE (liquidglass @ May 17 2008, 11:42 PM) looks really cool, only problem might be having a coal slide off onto the plastic, other than that, looks awesome, very portable. that rarely happens unless someone knocks it over... not really an issue QUOTE (Jeff_T @ May 18 2008, 05:05 AM) def looks good. can you throw anything on, or are you going to for a tray? it's possible to use one of the normal hookah trays (like the one i have from my egyptian hookah) and just put it on before you put the seal and bowl on... but i smoke my hookah outdoors, so i don't really need it and dont usually bother.
  4. Here's a quick run-through of the build process:Remove nalgene cap attachment strapDrill 3/4 inch hole in the top center of a nalgene bottle capCut 3/4 inch copper pipe to size. Leave an extra inch above the nalgene cap. If desired, make a diffuser of some sort on the bottom. I was pretty lazy, so I just threw a simple 3/4 inch T-joint on the bottomUsing heat-resistant epoxy, glue the tubing to the cap.Drill a half-inch hole in the side of the nalgene, towards the top. I actually used a really cheap soldering iron (got mine from the dollar store) to melt the hole... but this will give off some nasty fumes (I did it outside) and the plastic will stick to your soldering iron tip and likely ruin it (i expected this... i wanted to trash my cheap iron, so i figured i'd use it one last time before i did)Epoxy a half-inch to quarter-inch nipple in the hole.Attach the desired length of quarter inch ID tubing to the nippleA regular bowl seal and ceramic bowl (I used mine from my egyptian style hookah) can be used with this hookah.Have fun.
  5. The title says it all. Quick build walk-through:Drink all the goldschlager (yummy)Drill a 3/4 inch hole in the goldschlager cap (make sure you remove the little foam seal first)Cut a section of 3/4 inch copper pipe to length (lower excise pipe into the bottle until it hits the bottom. Cut about an inch above the top of the bottle). I've heard a lot of debate about whether copper is safe or not, but the piping barely even gets hot, so I'm not too worried.Using some sort of epoxy, make a 1/2 inch thick plug for the bottom of the hookah. I used quick-setting moldable epoxy that's supposed to be safe with potable water lines.Using a small drill bit, drill lots of holes in the bottom of the copper pipe (but above the half inch plug) to act as a diffuser.Using some more epoxy, attach the cap to the pipe. I used epoxy on both the inside and the outside (and my epoxy is high-temp-resistant)Using a glass drill bit (either diamond studded or a regular tile/glass bit), drill a half-inch hole through the wax goldschlager seal.Epoxy a half inch to quarter inch nipple into the drilled hole.Attach the desired length of 1/4 inch ID tubing. With a regular hookah bowl seal and ceramic bowl (I used both from my regular egyptian hookah), the bowl should sit well and have a good seal on top of the cap.Smoke hookah.
