  1. heres my new to me KM amer (courtesy of scoop) and replacement base (courtesy of liquidglass), small phunnel, homemade hose and mya QT. finally found an excuse to use my fisheye lens... and bland standard straight on shot good stuff!
  2. QUOTE (zumicroom @ Aug 18 2008, 07:53 PM) wow i have been having so much trouble with tangiers packing but i think you finally helped me nail it. its still slightly harsh but less than usual and i did just start the bowl. ill see where it goes from here but i think this might be it! thanks! nevermind it has only got more harsh. i think im falling at a 3 on eric's 0-10 scale. oh well.
  3. QUOTE (mattarios2 @ Aug 17 2008, 07:08 PM) I like to just take a massive clump with 3 fingers and drop it on top of the bowl. Then clear the spot for the phunnel hole, and slowly and carefully remove pieces of shisha until it sits right up against the top of the bowl. And voila, good to go. wow i have been having so much trouble with tangiers packing but i think you finally helped me nail it. its still slightly harsh but less than usual and i did just start the bowl. ill see where it goes from here but i think this might be it! thanks!
  4. haha it's made by altadis? nevermind. they do make some nice dominican/honduran cigars but they also make swishers, backwoods and phillies. which is probably the same tobacco going into this.
  5. any chance you would be willing to sell just a base?
  6. just completed my trade with him and A+ all the way. great price, great packaging and great product.
  7. same here. i smoke cigars as often as, if not more than i smoke hookah and this sounds like it very may well be something i would enjoy.
  8. QUOTE (Spotless @ Aug 10 2008, 12:13 AM) i rele think im gonna have to pick one of these suckers up but im skeptical about the fact that when you take a hit the air heats up the charcoal to make it suitable for a hit where as this the air doesnt touch is so how does it stay lit.. well air is still drawn across the coal to get into the hole in the screen.
  9. Since my new KM arrived with the base pulverized basically into dust i need a replacement. ideally an actual KM base and ideally in the original clear/frosted white color or green. 2" opening diameter/size 30 vase grommet. i'm also looking for an original KM ashtray since the one it came with isnt. thanks!
  10. i was asking about this in livehelp as well and they also mentioned the length of the handle itself is several inches shorter than the normal sized nammor. i know some people had issues with that.
  11. pm sent! i hope this is still up for grabs.
  12. so im currently trying this with my first tangiers ever and it isnt super harsh and utterly unsmokable like the 2 other times ive tried with other methods. it is tangiers grapefruit that arrived smelling nothing like grapefruit (i guess it had the infamous "soy sauce" smell but not even that really--it just smelled kind of bad) and has been acclimating for 4 or 5 days now. it still doesnt smell like grapefruit but the smell it did have has reduced considerably. smoking out of a mya QT with room temp water, small phunnel bowl, packed and holes poked exactly as described (and it looks exactly like snoopy's pictures; i even have the same color bowl) with 2 HC coconut coals. clouds are decent and there is only a little throat tickle but there is basically no flavor. even the smoke has practically no smell besides a veeerry subtle and vague fruityness. what am i doing wrong? do i need even more acclimation? more/less heat? did i just get a bad batch of tangiers? i want so badly to like this stuff but i cant even get it to smell right. im thinking maybe i should try a different flavor but im hesitant to drop the cash for more tangiers if i utterly fail every time i try to smoke it.
  13. i just recieved my mya QT from hookah-shisha.com and i love the little guy. ive been smoking hookah for a couple years now but this is the first one i have owned myself. everything arrived in excellent condition; the glass on my base seems plenty thick and only has one or two small bubbles (that i can see). the hose and bowl are black while the base is green. i was hoping everything would match but i can definitely live with this. the stem is unexpectedly heavy and polished like a mirror. all of the threaded connections are sealed with o-rings and the grommets are a nice gummy silicone so the hookah is air tight. the purge valve kinda sucks but i rarely purge and if i ever need to, i can just unscrew it a bit and it empties in no time. the tray is plenty big as long as you dont go tossing your coals around and the bowl grommet is pretty out of the way anyway. the bowl is a bit too deep; i just smoked almost 2 hours (romman ivory coast, golden quicklights), puffing pretty steadily and there was still a good bit of unburnt shisha on the bottom. the included tongs suck, they are just smooth flat metal with no teeth or shape to help grip the coal. the hose is fine. it isnt super nice but it gets the job done and is washable. the cleaning brush it came with also does a nice job. for $47 and change after shipping (and the hookahforum discount) i dont really see how you can do much better than this. i'll probably update this with pictures and more thoughts once i get my small phunnel and natural coconut coals from hookahcompany. update! so i got my phunnel, shisha and coals from hookacompany and i am completely sold on this bowl. maybe i was doing something wrong, but romman tobacco in the standard mya bowl had a tendancy to be somewhat harsh and the nectarine flavor made everyone sick. right now i am smoking AF golden eskandarani apple out of my small phunnel with 2 golden coals and ice in the base and it is brilliant. fantastic flavor and the thickest smoke ive had out of my QT yet. im already debating if my premature upgrade to the KM Amer i just ordered is going to be worth it.
