cemab4y
I am out in the middle of the Iraqi desert. The troops here, are not permitted to have any contact with Iraqi civilians, and we are not permitted to go into town. (It is 40 miles away, and most of us are restricted to base). Would any of you be interested in donating hookahs, tobacco, charcoals, or any hookah supplies to the troops here? Many of the troops and civilians here enjoy the "queen of smoking", and even though we are in the middle of the Arab world, obtaining supplies is a hassle. If anyone is interested in donating, please email cemab4y@hotmail or PM me. Thanks.

mcknight
If Nargile Club or MNH would put a checkbox in their shopping cart for a 5 dollar donation I would be more than happy to check that a bunch of times on my next orders. Seems like putting in the effort to transfer around a small amount of money would take much more effort then just checking a box on my next order and having it charged to my credit card. cemab4y
For the record, I am a CIVILIAN computer technician, here in Iraq on a military contract. I live on Forward Operating Base Sykes, out in the middle of nowhere. There is no combat here, our function is mainly support and housing. There are about 3,000 military and civilians here, no Iraqis are permitted on the base, but there are some third-country nationals here, primarily Indians, Sri Lankans, Nepalese, who work in food service. (The army has not had K.P. for years). All civilians and most military are restricted to base, the nearest town is 40 miles away and off limits. There is a very nice Recreation Hall here, with an internet cafe, and TV room, and a gym. The Rec Hall gets no government money. Normally, profits from the PXs go into a fund that is used for morale and recreational activities. So you see, the soldiers themselves have paid for the Rec Hall.Due to a funding glitch, there has not been any funds made available for supplies and recreational equipment here. I have spread the word to some of my friends back in the USA for donations. (Mostly masonic lodges and other non-profits). I have received many boxes of cookies and snacks (the troops are nuts for beef jerky), as well as DVDs and personal care items, like soap and toothpaste. I place the items out on the table at the Rec Hall, and the troops take the stuff back to their living quarters. (We live in trailers here). Some of the troops here, enjoy the hookah. Oddly enough, here in the midst of the Arab world, it is difficult to obtain supplies (tobacco, charcoals, etc). I thought it would be a good gesture for some of the USA hookah-philes to maybe donate some supplies for the troops over here. It is not without precedent. In WW2, my Shrine center back in Columbus OH, sent many packs of cigarettes to the troops in Germany. Individuals and clubs have sent "care packages" to the troops since the Civil War (War between the states 1861-1865).Regardless of how you feel about this war, I am glad to see that at least the American people are not blaming the corporals. I was on active duty during the VietNam conflict, and I was spit on.So, if you are interested in donating some hookah supplies to the troops here in Iraq, just PM me, and I will tell you how. Odd that given the hundreds of billions of dollars that are being used to fund the war why each soldier cant make a request for a simple item such as a hookah. Where is all that money going btw? maybe the resident soldier can fill us in....If Nargile Club or MNH would put a checkbox in their shopping cart for a 5 dollar donation I would be more than happy to check that a bunch of times on my next orders.
