Genie Bases

Recommended Posts

I just picked up a 23" egyptian with a genie base from HC, and it's unstable as all get out. The bottom is not quite flat and it rocks all over the place. It smokes fine, but it's wobbly as hell. The base has a seam, which means it was cast and not hand blown, so I would have thought that the bottom of the base would be nice and flat, but it's not. Has anyone else had this problem with this kind of base?

So any news of the base yet?

No. I work in the news business, and today was a busy day, with the shooting at Virginia Tech and the flooding in the northeast. I hope to call HC tomorrow. It's a sobering thought though; I'm bitching about a wobbly hookah base and bam, dozens of innocent people lose their lives, and hundreds of others are homeless, at the mercy of mother nature... I will call, but I wonder if it's just not that important. Sometimes I hate my job.

Sometimes it takes something horrible like that to really open up your eyes. I have a genie base on my 30 inch pharoah hookah. I find it pretty stable and haven't had any problems. Hope it works out for you.

Hey all, no worries, I have a genie base and it was a tad wobbly as well. Easy fix only cost me $1. I just went to wal-mart and got that sticky-tac stuff (the stuff people use to stick posters to walls) and got more than enough for only $1. I just took a little chunk off and put it on the bottom of the baseand pressed the base down on a flat surface and it doesnt wobble at all anymore. Nice easy fix and not really noticeable smile.gif

A conversation I had a few years back with Ali at SS was that while it seems like a genie base would seem to have a wider seating circumference, the old school egyptian bell vases have the widest seat. Essentially more stable than the genies.

Kind of a tradeoff, I suppose..... I think the genies are sexy.
