Old World Recipe

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I want to share a old Hookah recipe with you. Now this recipe was made by me for my Grandfather. from age eleven to eighteen when he passed. Ok lets give a little History. In 1974 I started my journey with the Hookah. I was not able to Smoke till I was 15 years of age. This is when I also got my first Fattuta or Hookah. Before the eighties there were no flavors or glycerin in the Shisha. Shisha was made from scratch useually by the wife or the young men. We would take Tombak and Soak enough for a bowl in hot water for 45 mins. while that was Soaking I would Smash Anise Seeds and Chopp up some Green Apple mostly the skin. Thata is were alot of the apple flavor is. Also some Honey. First I would retrieve the Tombak from the hot water. Useing a strainer. Then I would squeeze out as much moisture as possible. Take your chopped apple and mix some in. Then a pinch of Ground Anise Seed. Then I would mix in the Honey. After that I had a mixture that was really chunky. I would use warm water on my hand and Grab some of the mIxture and make a ball. Then wrap that Ball in Foil and place it in the Freezer. For about an Hour. Then I would retrieve it and let it sit for a couple of mins. Then load the bowl and place red hot Coal right on top of the Shisha. This is very strong Smoke. also the first few hits are Harsh. But it smooths out soon after. Also Place a lemon peel in your vase. About inch square.
Ratio's
Tomabak: 50g
Hot water
Honey about two teaspoons
Apple two slices with the Skin on. Chopped Medium
Anise one teaspoon whole Seed. Then ground fine
Foil to wrap the shisha in.
Try it out.
