Your First Hookah Experience....

I was at a mates house and VERY against smoking.So he just asked me one question ' How can you say hate it if you never tried it'. So i took a hit and was still not impressed.I left it at that.
A few weeks later back at the same friends house i got a lil drunk and decided to try it.I can even remember it was Afzal Golden Apple or summin.I got hooked that night.

So whered you guys 1st experience your first hookah smoke and was it pleasant or what

I was on my way to hookah loune with some firends and we got into a car accident, got side swiped by a pick up truck. Pulled over, took care of busineess and continued to the lounge. the smoking was great, teh drive not so much....

I remember quite well. I was living in Saudi Arabia (1997), and I had been intrigued by the hookah, but never bought one, or knew anyone who had one. (I had served previously in Saudi 1991). I was wandering in the "souk" (bazaar), and I saw some hookahs for sale. I went in, and although I do not speak arabic, the shop proprietor put together a complete set. Hookah, tobacco, coals, etc. He spoke no English at all, but he pointed and babbled. He held his hand alongside the water reservoir, and indicated how much "mayee" (water) to put in.

I took the hookah back to my barracks, and watered up, and loaded the bowl, and lit the charcoal. I do not smoke cigarettes, so it was quite a rush, and I got a little nauseated. I survived,though.

For the next two days, I would light off a bowl after work, and with some effort, get it to smoke properly.

By about the third day, I could handle the smoking experience pretty well, and I enjoyed it every day, during my 6 months in Saudi.

I brought the hookah and supplies back with me to the USA. I had no problem at all, bringing the items through customs. I smoked up all of the tobacco in Bowling Green KY, and then I could not find any tobacco at all (Odd, in the heart of Kentucky tobacco country!!). I finally found some Zaghloul in a small arabian shop in Nashville Tenn.

Hmm, I had tried it ONCE at my egyptian friend's house. It was apple, and he had smoked "other" herbs out of it. The taste wasnt too bad, and the smoke pretty thick. That's when I looked into it, and found this site. After talking on the forums for a bit, I realized as long as i managed it better, The shisha could/would taste 100X better, and thicker smoke. So, On impulse, I ordered one, lol.

I went to a friens house and they had a hookah going in the backyard. I too was very against smoking and I thought they were smoking something "illegal". I smelt the aroma and it smelled so good. "you wanna rip gordon?" asked my friend. " no man im good" (still thinking its something bad) "Its not bad dude, we bought this at the store, life is about experiences, give it a whirl" so i did and im very glad that i did.

Was hangging out with a friend and we went to one of his friend's house who I had just met. He had a hookah and set it up for us to smoke cuase we had never smoked one before. After that night I knew i had to have one.

my 1st time was at a park when i was 16 a group of my friends got one and we went to the park across the road and did it, but then the cops came and we were told to pack up and move since it looked very suspicious so after a breif search and emptying of the pockets we left and just smoked some more in the car

Went out with my gf and some of her friends who smoked before. It was pretty good. I teased my gf bc she didnt really suck it in much when she tried to get big cloud of smoke. We went to another Hookah bar and they brought it out to us with a charcoal already lit and right before we got it, the guy took a puff to 'get it going' and we were like WTF? haha then they gave us another piece of charcoal and we didnt know how to light it and we didnt bother asking...so we end up putting it on and were like with the sparks and the noob smoker I was, I puffed on it a few times and choked as the charcoal wasnt even ready yet haha. Then I came on here and other places and found out the correct way.

I got hooked on it but eventually I stopped. I actually havent smoked hookah for at least a month now for some reason. But I think Im gonna go walk down the street to the smoke shop and pick up some charcoal.

I was very against smoking, still am, in certian aspects, but a friend of mine I was visting in Austin TX took us to a hookah bar, after that night I came home and 2 weeks later ordered a hookah.

A friend of mine returned from a trip to Turkey with a nargileh. He lit it up and we smoked a bowl while playing Axis and Allies. After a few visits i was hooked.

My first time was in the middle of the desert in dubai, went on a desert safari and we then went for a meal at a campsite in the middle of nowhere, in one corner there was about 10 pipes set up. I took a few tokes and loved it. Bought one over there and have been smokin ever since.

Me and a friend went and bought a (shitty) hookah and some AW 'fruits flavour' from a smoke shop... I guess he had smoked with his cousins and loved it, I was pretty intrigued by the whole process and didn't really get it at first... like, 'wait, you put the coal on it... and foil? So what's inside the bowl?' Haha. He told me it was just like breathing air and not like smoking at all... I still have the hookah that we smoked that day, actually I'm smoking out of it now (albeit with a new base, bowl, and hose)... I loved it although I now despise AW 'fruits flavour'... That was about 3 years ago and I have loved every minute of hookah (apart from Layalina Caramel flavor.... ewwww) ever since
