SAEPhoenix
So, as some of you may know from some of my previous posts I am an eighth grade Social Studies teacher. This year is supposed to be dedicated to world culture, and one of the things I am trying to do is squeeze the Middle East into a curriculum that usually does not cover it. I am hoping to do something kinda neat and turn my classroom into a Middle Eastern cafe to give the kids a taste of Middle Eastern culture. I personally have never been to the middle east and would LOVE some first hand references to use. If anyone has any pictures that they could send me I would be ever so grateful. Let me know- I would love to make this happen for the kids.
ShishaFred
If I were you , I'd present them a correct view of the religion. Some might think Arab is a synonym for terrorist , so proove them wrong. Maybe give them a look of important places in the Middle East , like the Mecca I like the Cafe restaurant , could probably give them an idea of the music and food.Tip of the hat to you for adding such an important element to a course that clearly lacks , especially in such times , important information. SAEPhoenix
Religion is already in the curiculumm. The district I am in hasn't had the chance to revise their curriculum in many years, and it isn't that they don't think the Middle East is important, just that they tend to run out of time in the curriculum htey have. So again, any help with visuals to base the cafe off of would be spectacular.

Pillows with intricate designs ! I'm basicly describing a hookah lounge hehe. Good luck to you , sounds like a nice project.
