Are These Hookahs Any Good? Any Experiences With Them?

Recommended Posts

I own a stargate, here are some problems with it.

-the biggest problem: The threads on the base (acrylic) meet up with machined STEEL threads. As you can imagine, over time they will be worn to nothing, after 8 months it doesnt even screw on anymore. The o-ring can do little to stop the water from bleeding through the threads, and your hookah will begin to leak, alot.

-the whole metal/acyrlic vase combo - the glue used on the inside attaching the bottom base and top part isnt really strong, and will wear out. "YAY, the base dissasembles too"- not cool.
(this shouldnt be a problem with the rotator though)

The multi-part stem is actually pretty solid, and there arent any leakage issues here.

The gun metal black finish isnt as awesomely coated as it looks, and parts of the hookah will rust at certain points. (most notably the tray contact areas, as water gets there when cleaning)

As far as cleaning it, its not that bad to clean after it eats your brush to bejesus.

-The arcylic base isnt very tempurature resistant, and over time if you use cold water it will begin to crack like the san andreas fault. Thankfully the acrylic is very fucking thick, so its either going to eventually break on me, or its going to have that cool cracked glass look forever.

I actually like this hookah and its very cool, but the acrylic thread part is almost unforgivable. So much work goes into precision machining this hookah only to be pissed away with that dumb design flaw, yeah... im only slightly irritated...

The hoses will rust, and i dont see why a simple coating on the inside of them is uncalled for.... i mean $.30 worth of rubber on the inside would make them last years, not days if you like to wash your hose.

Sure all of these things can be fixed: some teflon tape around the worn out acrylic threads, some goop in the worn out base contact. But you can probably get a much better hookah for around the same price.

black-

I have a large star gate. I love it. I dont have any problems. tasqueem is a decent brand.

a LOT of people on this board are mya lovers ( so am i, so please no flames) but if you get a true tasqueem hookah you should be pleased.

as for the rotator i'm not sure. I love how my hookah breeaks down , makes for an easier clean, storage, and travel.

check the review section on tasqueems hookahs.

I think they are great as long as you get a genuine tasqueem and not a knock off!

I have the non-rotating version of the stargate. I love it, it hits incredibly hard and is so easy to clean and take apart. I would look into getting Taqseem's Stargate befor getting a rotating one. I can see the plastic portion of the base having problems in the future, but after a year I plan to get another base anyway. They seem to make great stuff thats sturdy as all hell. biggrin.gif
