Foil Ring Between Layers Of Foil?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone tried this method as illustrated in this video clip on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8cpNKW0_QE

They cover the bowl filled with shisha with a layer of foil, then poke really fine holes all around the center, They then fold up a piece of foil and make a ring out of it and place it on the foil. After this they add a second layer of foil and poke bigger holes this time. They then set the heated coal ontop of the top layer of foil, with an airspace inbetween the two layers. I am assuming to help minimize the possibility of accidently setting the shisha on fire. Edited by chrisrbts

Yeah, I saw that and've tried it a few times since. I guess the point is to create a more indirect way of heating the molasses and reduce the possibility of scorching. As a side-effect, it also keeps down on ash. I've found (obviously) that if the ring is too big and the airspace too great, the shisha won't cook properly and barely smokes. It's a finnicky technique that worked for my El Basha, Al Waha and Al Amir, but didn't pull anything off of the Fusion or Starbuzz. So, that ones up in the air. I still do it for anything that smokes especially harsh.

personally, i think that is a waste of time.. there are better ways to go about heat management. They weren't even getting big clouds nonetheless. If you really want that much space between your shisha and coals go buy a deep bowl and don't pack it up all the way. Idk but just my two cents
