manntis
Here's my current setup - but it's years old and getting tired. Every time I use it now it gets dark amber tobacco juice oozing out of the bowl stem and dripping down the metal stem. When I blow out the hose, small flecks of leather come out. Despite its defects I'm very comfortable with the setup. I especially like the ball end on the hose, something I've been unable to find in other wood/metal hoses. The wooden end takes no grommet - it just fits snugly into the receiver on the stem. The machined metal is almost certainly a MYA setup - ignore the ugly aluminum pipe in the midsection; that was a temporary fix after my girlfriend accidentally knocked it over and the threads on the original midpipe cracked. The Syrian bowl is the male style I described in my other thread, and fits nice & snug. In fact, I vastly prefer the machined-and-chromed stem and Syrian bowl to my second hookah, a stamped one-piece stem and egyptian bowl affair I got in Kuwait but which I rarely if ever use.Anywho - I've ordered a new stem (though the midpipe styling is different than the original spiral it had) and I'd like to replace the hose with the same type. A friend of mine has grown addicted to hookah after using mine, and wants one exactly like it - down to the simple Babylonian glass vase. The problem is I bought it through an ebay account I haven't used in 4-5 years, from someone overseas, and have no idea if it's an actual model or just cobbled together with MYA and other parts. It's very similar to the chrome/dark blue glass (1032) mid-sized hookah offered by MYA, but I'd like to get 2 identical replacements if they exist.Thoughts? Oggie505
Looks like a mya knockoff to me, especially from the purge valve. If the parts are stamped MYA then it is just one someone threw together, best thing to do is goto Mya's website and email them for the parts you need
manntis
the base is marked "bohemia glass - czech republic" and there are no MYA stamps anywhere I can see, so I'm inclined to think your knockoff assessment is correct.
KillZedKill
H-S has those bohemian bases, I think hookahkings does too, just type in "bohemian hookah" and look around for yours. Edited April 24, 2007 by KillZedKill

MYA is in the process of building its third Glass Factory in Saudi Arabic which means that customers might see MYA Glass made in Czech Republic, Romania, and soon Saudi Arabia. Our prices will always remain competitive in the market no matter where the raw material is coming from or where our MYA brand is being manufactured.I urge all the forum members who have any questions or concerns about MYA products to contact me at MYA SARAY directly as you will only get the truest of responses from the source. MYA SARAY does not usually like to respond to rumors posted by other hookah retailers but we have noticed a trend in the concerns and decided that those retailers who are unfamiliar with our business and have been posting erroneous messages about the MYA brand need to be informed just as well as our loyal customer base to whom we owe the response to. I know, I know, it seems like being nit-picky... but 'mouth feel' is important to me and once I've found something I like I try to stick with it. Erica
Yea that looks exactly like a mya...and they have those kind of purge valves.....And I don't think the knoockoffs would copy the stem EXACTLY down to whats on the INside of the docorative parts...meh

Where would the MYA stamps be?For my mya pipe (31''):1.) Engraving on the coal guard. 2.) Tiny engraving on the section where the purge valve is connected. 3.)My vase also had a sticker on the side of it but I peeled that off.But this need not apply to yours especially since you state that your pipe is quite old. Perhaps Mya didn't mark their pipes back then? Or maybe they peeled or wore off? I unfortunatley don't have an old Mya to verify this. Mya customer service would probably be your best bet.- misterbeetz
manntis
well, I solved the flaking-leather hose problem by doing the clear hose mod http://www.hookahforum.com/index.php?showt...t=0&start=0Now I just need the new stem and bowl from MYA and good to go
