Chogh
Hey guys, I recently bought my hookah, before then I always would smoke at bars or at a friends house. So after getting tired of not having my own, I decided to buy one. I cleaned everything like my friends taught me and cleaned it well. When it came down to the hoses, I knew I shouldn't put water in the hose, but I did anyways. Putting warm water inside and swish it around and blowing it out the other end around 3 times. On Sunday when I was smoking, I was holding my hose and looked inside the mouthpiece and saw some orange substance that looked like rust. I immediately looked at the other 2 hoses and they were int acted. So the question lies, what are the harms of smoking a rusty hose (Tetanus, etc)? Is there anyway to safely remove the rust? Should I just toss away the hose and buy a new one? Thanks for the help guys, I appreciate it =]
nofrendo
Why would you want to smoke out of a rusty hose? Tetanus comes from bacteria entering your bloodstream, so there's probably no risk of that, but I can't possibly see how inhaling rust could be healthy

After having a social smoke hose since christmas I still see nothing come out. If orange stuff comes out you should probably toss it. There is a good chance that the hose is ruined considering I have run water through two hoses which I was told to be washable and both of them rusted. manntis
Too much trouble? I did the mod this afternoon and it took all of maybe three minutes, start to finish, including the time it took me to find a knife.
kornkitten42
the only tricky part to doing the vinyl hose is getting the actually wooden handle off of the coil and getting all of the plastic, leather, and metal out of the wooden ends.took me all of 20 min to do 3 hoses this way. and in turn i like seeing the smoke go through the hose

The picture is the one I use, and I am pretty sure it is not Mya, but the rust process is slow, but who knows.I smoked today, and the hoses had a very very very minor metal taste, I dont know if it was just me trying to nitpick or if it really was the rust. If you want it to last hang up your hose after every use, even if you don't clean it
