I don't want to start an arguement, I was just curious where everyone stands in politics. Im very conservative, but I'm guessing most people here are more liberal, well just vote in the poll and state it again in the thread if you want Edited by The King

Both. I never fit the mold politically. I've voted a straight ticket for both parties and also a split ticket. When voting, I care more about the character of the candidates and how that aligns with my world view than anything else.

These days, I'd say I'm slightly liberal. However, I am better connected to Republicans than Democrats.

I don't really care where other people are politically as long as they're able to hold an intelligent conversation and admit that the other side's arguments usually have something behind them. I can't stand people who blindly scream political statments but can't even summarize the other side's argument. If you're not well informed, I don't want to hear you rant the party line.

Can't we just all come together and enjoy a hookah?

Update: Thought I might add I didn't vote in the poll. I would have taken moderate (although I can be extreme on some issues), but don't care isn't me--I do care! Edited by bolt in blue

I am an atheist. I have mainly libertarian views, the christian right is too powerful on the conservative side and all that liberal whineing about starving guerillas makes me gag. Gun control should be abolished, an armed society is a polite society. Freedom of religion, or lack of religion should be a given, and a complete non-issue. Double standards are a good way to spoil a legal system, black people aren't oppressed (they have a better chance of getting the job than I do...), and not all white people are suburbanite SUV-driving slime. Nothing irritates me more than oil-guzzling bastards and lumber companies that care more about furniture and flooring than natural beauty and fragile eco-systems.

I suppose in those respects I'm a green libertarian. Edited by AKammenzind

Umm...a lot of that sounds pretty conservative to me...

Some is yes, I'm neither overwhelmingly conservative nor liberal. I am against the war in Iraq, and detest the state of Israel, not because they're jewish, I don't mind jews, but simply because its existance causes so many problems, and I can't see a reason for it to be there other than to cause fundamentalist christians to drool in anticipation of the second coming, and that's not a terribly good one. Additionally I'm not a fan of globalization or all the many problems it's causing.

Just didn't want to make the first post too long (I never read over-long posts and wouldn't expect anyone else to, specially in the general section. wink.gif )

I'm generally socialist. I lean towards public welfare, and a socialised centrally-run economy. Above all I believe that education (freely and equally provided to every-one, at a high standard when needed-let's face it some people are students) should be central to the running of a country.

I do lean right with regard to the use of armed force. I think that in certain situations when internationally supported, after the exhaustion of better diplomatic solutions, armed force should be used. War is not the smartest way to solve problems but it is the easiest and strongest way of proving a point. Anyway, that's that. A good shisha smoke will make no need for war.

Perhaps libertarian and radicals too.

I am mainly moderate, but I do lean to the right for now. My Economics class is a big help too with certain issues. I'd rather have capitalism and free markets rather than socialism and oppression (ouch). Just making a point that I support free markets is all. I am still pretty naive when it comes to politics (I am only 20), but maybe in the next couple years I will understand a bit better. Though I feel that there are some weaknesses to our political system in the United States. I need to keep up with my studies before I make too many value judgments. Edited by Key

I'm only 17, I've just always been really into politics...but it leads to a lot of arguementsa with teachers

True true. I have a strong stance for diversity of thought in schools (having both liberal and conservative views without penalizing the student for their own). Sometimes it is not worth it though to mention your political stance in class because with it can go your grade haha. Edited by Key

I float around. Certain topics I stand on IE I am a gun nut. However, I feel that anyone who makes a decision before seeing any of the details is a complete moron.

Me very liberal. I believe you should be able to do what the hell you want. IF you wan an abortion more power to ya. cuz its your right. I personally think religion is a major deciding factor in politics, which i believe should be left out.

but hey Money is key to everything these days.

I think from now on I'll call moderates libercons. Best of both worlds, and it has a nice ring to it. I was thinking libo-con, but that sounds too much like a surgical procedure.

If anyone else needs my input, just ask.

I don't know how someone can classify themselves as liberals unless they're hippies or conservative unless you're a far right wing. Surely most people have some aspects where they're liberal and conservative.

Exactly. Most people are a mix of values. But liberal and conservative are good labels to group people under for the purposes of politics and entertainment. What would politicians and pundits do if they couldn't label people? That's just un-American.

I lean to the left. Give me some universal healthcare. Go ahead and increase my taxes so long as I can stop paying for my outrageous insurance. Or, better yet, clean up Washington a little bit and make it happen without increasing my taxes. If you can fund a war to the tune of $9 billion per month, you can take care of my broken arm.

I'm definitely a libertarian.

People should be able to do whatever the hell they want, I believe that government doesn't know what's good for people better than they do, EVER.

My personal quote, expresses how I feel about things in this country: "Who the fuck are you to turn your views into my laws?"

As far as abortion, I'm against it, but for killing babies.
