QUOTE (nofrendo @ May 11 2007, 12:30 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I'm definitely a libertarian.

People should be able to do whatever the hell they want, I believe that government doesn't know what's good for people better than they do, EVER.

My personal quote, expresses how I feel about things in this country: "Who the fuck are you to turn your views into my laws?"

As far as abortion, I'm against it, but for killing babies.

Yeah, I don't think anyone can honestly believe that... There's people that don't want to earn things for themselves, and look for the easiest way out... Every country needs some type of government

I believe:

Live and Let Live.
Do into Others as you would have them do onto you.
Mind your own business (In general, not directed at the person reading this)

So much unbalanced crap nowadays...moderation is the key. Establish rules that are fair for everybody and that everybody can live with. When you start imposing on others, you need to shut the fuck up.

Down with National ID Cards and Patriot Act. Up with Civil liberties, isolationism and full-employment. Full employment trumps the welfare state.

I'll be the first to kill you if and when America turns into libertarian society.

Your "personal quote" isn't yours, and you copied your abortion stance from Maddox.

Some is yes, I'm neither overwhelmingly conservative nor liberal. I am against the war in Iraq, and detest the state of Israel, not because they're jewish, I don't mind jews, but simply because its existance causes so many problems, and I can't see a reason for it to be there other than to cause fundamentalist christians to drool in anticipation of the second coming, and that's not a terribly good one. Additionally I'm not a fan of globalization or all the many problems it's causing.

Just didn't want to make the first post too long (I never read over-long posts and wouldn't expect anyone else to, specially in the general section. wink.gif )

Yeah, the state of Israel is disgusting. I don't hate Jews either, I just think the Israeli government (which means the American government) needs to do some serious re-evaluating.

I'm a Fallibilist, which means that I believe in uncertainty and in the intrinsically pervasive fallibility of politics, among other things.

In international matters my perceptions lean toward Class Conflict Theory, more commonly known as Marxism, and in domestic Canadian matters my perceptions lean toward Liberalism.

If I have to pick one of the two labels, I'd choose liberal. Although, there's a lot of wiggle room within that label. Classical liberal? Modern liberal? Left liberal?

Frankly, I find the liberal-conservative spectrum to be inadequate in describing the full range of political beliefs that are out there. Where do libertarians fit in, for example? They hold some views that are liberal and some that are conservative, but I wouldn't describe them as "moderate." (I suppose I'd describe them as "crazy," but that's just my bias.)

It's also interesting to note that the terms liberal and conservative mean very different things to our friends from across the pond. While liberalism is associated with the left on this continent, Europeans use liberal in a way that is very similar to the way we use the term libertarian. The Freie demokratische Partei in Germany and the Liberal Democrats in the UK are free-marketers who also place great emphasis on individual liberty. On the other hand, the Conservative Party in the UK was at one time committed to the idea of "noblesse oblige" and the idea of the collectivist consensus.

And now I'm spent. It's been far to long since I took Political Theory.
