El Aint Such An Invincible Ninja

Well as some might have noticed, i haven't posted much in recent times. And for good reason mind you. My vehicle broke down and i spent alot of time outside working on it. Add in my new garden im working on, things breaking around the house, and a few interviews and lots of job hunting, i havent had time for much.

Well i think i pushed myself a bit too far, cause unless im mistaken, which i seriously hope i am, i have, at the tender age of 19, a herniated disc XD Last few days ive had severe back pain, now its to the point walking hurts, and i can barely get up and down. For now im over the counter drugs and some heat wrap stuff. I have no insurance, and no money, so surgery is out of the question XD

Im hoping to get a chance to go to a chiropractor, and i hope they will be able to help. So if yall don't hear from me much for the next little while, just lettin ya know why tongue.gif

Sorry to hear that dude, I hope you get better. I don't like chiropractors as my mom is a physical therapist and she has to fix a lot of problems that they create on people. But since you don't have a lot of money and no insurance it is probably your best bet. Good luck.

Thanks man XD kinda scares me a bit, but as you said, its my best bet. I would love to just go to my old doctor, and get some nice drugs, or maybe some surgery, and be done with it XD

You think a chiropractor can fix an herniated disc? haha that would be some pretty severe work. The kind of pain that would make you faint. Funny you mention it , there was an article in today's papers how the wait for surgery ( free ! ) here for that kind of problem was like...5 years. Must not be a lot of doctors who treat that.

Gota to remember to bend your knees when you lift man..(sorry i just saw the thread)
Not sur ehwat you are taking that makes the pain goaway, but just because it doesn't hurt NOW doesnt mean there still isn't damage. Careful you don't make it worse and just not feel it, if that makes any sense?

Well it is showing its ugly head again. These weeks of full stress i think climaxed today. The loan, which my sister is trying to get to get her and my grandfather out of debt, was screwed again today, and that put alot of stress on me. Then i had to load an almost entire trees worth of cut up branches into the back of a trailer.

Well i was working, and i quickly got exaushted, and short of breath. I stopped, took a break, and felt fine after a few minutes. I then got back to work, and after a good 5 minutes of hard labor in the texas sun, i felt screwed again. I walked over to get some water, and my chest started to hurt. I started sweating real bad, and i started to get dizzy.

So i sat down, and then i had to lay down, couldnt sit up anymore, and i was being sent into a world of chest pain like i have never felt. Waves of chest clenching hurt, for a good 30seconds to a minute, i dont know how long for sure, cause it felt like forever.

We guess from all the stress from the loan having problems, my uncle moving in for a while, and me not getting that job, just piled up on me, and then the stressful work kicked me over the edge, into a stress induced heart attack, and from what i learned is called "broken heart syndrome".

So add onto my herniated disc, a nice new thing biggrin.gif Yet even with that, and all these problems, im still happy and optimistic, cause i found someone really special in my life biggrin.gif

It was a stres induced heart ttack? that medically diagnosed.

I have had similar problems in the past, the really bad chest pains, shortness of breath, passed out once from it.

It's a spasming BACK muscle. I ended up in the jhospital because they thought i was having a heart attack it got so bad one day on a dig, when I was shoveling and screening lots of dirt.

Your back problems are pulling around though the series of muscles to your chest. Everything is connected. Once the chest pains start you can't breath right, this causes you to get light headed because you end up hyperventellating grom the pain and the tightness, add to that the fear you are habing a heart attack and you hypervenillate even more..ending in dizzyness and sometimes blacking out.

Due to the damage to by back and the fact that my stress mainifests itself in my back first and I can feel it working towards my check i live wioth the chest pains a LOT.

Sound possible in your case?

Disclaimer: I am a massage therapist, so i am inclined to think muscles first. also read Massage Therapist NOT Doctor!

I believe Mush may be right, It sounds like a Muscle Spasm (aka Trigger Point) At 19 you probably have just stressed out and over worked your back, taking time to take care of it now might save you alot of trouble in the future.

First, take it easy, no more heavy lifting until it has a chance to heal.
Next, try some GENTLE streching or possibly some yoga, but be careful, if it hurts more than the tiniest bit, you could be doing more harm than good. You should be able to look up online streches and yoga poses that will work on the part of the back that hurts.
Also, Ice will work better at reducing the infalmation than heat will. Leave it on for 20 whole minutes.(that's harder than you'd think)

There is validity to the idea that your mental stress can also manifest in your body, try to stay grounded!

Good luck and i hope you feel better soon!

Yea me be doing my online research, and it seems what happend can be either one. I guess the only way i would have known would have been going to the doctor, so ill never know XD Ive been taking it easy either way the last few days, letting my family finish the pile.

My back is actually feeling better then it has, i might just be getting used to it though. What sucks is the nice shotting pain through my leg on occasion, thats the only thing thats still really annoying XD

Hey EL I'm so sorry to hear you are in such a state. I just cracked one of my ribs a few weeks ago, and I could hardly sleep, so my dr gave me some happy pills. You mentioned that you have no insurance... Are you in school at the moment? I know lots of colleges (at least when I was in school) have basic health care available for all students who are paying tuition. Part of the student union or something. Anyway, not sure if you are eligible at all, but if you are in teh college, you might want to look into it.

Hey, just read this thread, hope you are feeling better EL! ... your much to young to be having back problems sad.gif

I can feel your pain, I injured my shoulder in the gym last year, and it still hurts, even after a year! I don't think it ever healed properly. And now it is always a little sore and it actually acted up reallly bad yesterday ... ouch!

Maybe you can find a free clinic or something, and go have it looked at ... if that is a possibility?

Cheers!
