Question About Shisha

Hey guys, had a question about Shisha. I just bought a few boxes and was curious about the date I saw on the side. What is the significance of it?

It says Aug 2006. Is this good, bad? I'm totally new at this, so I'm trying to get a feel for what I'm doing. I've read all the info I could find on hookahs and shisha and whatnot, but could not find anything pertaining to dates.

Is this shisha already stale, bad?

A Lot of shisha has the date it was made on it.

Layalina (and others) show both the creation date & expiry dates.

So, without another date, your shisha is either a year out of date. Or quite fresh

Might be an idea if you can tell us what make the shisha is?

Not 100% sure Insidius, I have some Al Fakhir at home, i'll have a look on my tub.

I have a feeling in the back of mind that this is the 'made' date. Not the expiry date.

Other's may correct me.

But the easiest test for shisha - Open it up. Is it nice & moist with juice, or is it quite dry?

What is the flavour also (as some flavours are wetter than others)

Then smoke it! If it tastes like socks... it's probably out of date.

I believe Al Fakher prints the date of manufacture. It usually is good for a couple of years. It should be fine.

Great, thanks so much, guys. I'm really new to the hookah experience, just ordered mine but haven't smoked from it yet (had to send the stem back - it was visibly damaged - doh!).


Here's what I got so far:

Large Vase w/ large 4 hose stem
Diamante Finger Coals Kilo Bag (2)
4 Nammor Hoses (and 2 basic washable hoses just in case)
Combo Bowl/screen/wind cover.
and we started with Al Fakher Golden Bahraini Apple and Al Fakher Plum.

As soon as the replacement stem gets here, it's hookah time! I can't wait.

on al fakhar they have the expiration date I'm pretty sure.

on my AF it was the date of manufacture.

Usually with most hookah tobacco, its good for 2 years. so you are good until 08/08.
