the mobile blacksmith
I used your technique, demonstrated in the video, to set up my hookah when it arrived on Thursday evening. Everything worked great! We smoked Nakhla vanilla on Thursday and double apple on Friday. Thanks again!
cypress
I would like to say your welcome to everyone who has used this video. I would also like to encourage any others to make an informative video. There are different variations in teh amount of coal and hole patterns that work well too. ab21
cypress, at the begining of your video, you showed 4 different types of coals, i'm curious about the difference between them. my friend told me the japanese coals are like quicklights and they are not good. I'm using king coals, sort of like the 2nd one you showed in the video and it doesn't create ashes which would go down the hookah and into my mouth, it doesn't take off the taste of the shisha but the only thing is the place i got it from is 100 miles away. so I'm looking for a good brand or type of coals that i can get online. I like my coals in smaller pieces placed around the bowl, normally i'll have 4~5 small pieces circle around the bowl and it works great.

yashman19
in the video i saw you use two coals at the same time. how does this help?
Because it will give you more heat thus more flavor/smoke? I don't know how large your bowl is, but with most of the bowls that I have, if I were to place one single coal on the whole thing I would't get sh*t for smoke. If you are using quicklight coals, most people will break them in half and use 3 halves, evenly spacing them out around the perimeter of the bowl. I use Nour Finger Coals. I break the long strips into about 2" long pieces, and use 2 of those. I just keep them parallel to each other on the edge of the bowl, then when it comes time to ash them, I do so and then rotate them, but still keeping them on the outside of the bowl.
