Bearing Question...

Recommended Posts

ok so, i think that my ball bearing the purge valve doesnt really move when i blow into the hose.. so i think this or possibly something else cause my hookah to shoot out water from other orifices?? correct me if im wrong. But if thats the case What should i do, ive heard about replacing it with a plastic airsoft BB, but i have a feel it MIGHT be too small?

Have you tried cleaning it? usually that solves the problem and if you not able to blow out stale smoke and inhale smoke after cleaning it then yea try getting a little BB and poping it in and you should be fine.

how hard are you blowing? My bearing works well enough, and I've switched back and forth with an airsoft BB, but if I blow too hard or too fast the pressure sends water up the shaft.

what i dont understand is how you are able to get the ball out. How can one "pry" it out when its completly sealed around in metal?

The bearing enclosures are usually threaded and therefore are able to be taken off via rotation. This at least, is the case with the hookahs that I own.

Yeah, all valve housings are threaded. Often they become slightly bent in transit or get frozen from a little rust, but a pair of pliers gently applied should remove it. If they weren't threaded...how would the ball bearing get in there? Most hookahs actually get to the distributors without a ball bearing...the distributor puts it in.

Since its a new hookah i dont think the valve itself is dirty and, it seems clean to me. But the Bearing itself looks shitty, it does seem like the distributors put it in later on it doesnt match the age of the hookah it looks used and crappy... i put in a plastic BB today but it was just like only a little to small if it was just a TINY TINY bit bigger it would work perfectly, so what i did was i took some sand paper to the bearing and then made it look shiny (there was a brown residue on it, possibly rust?) but yeah it didnt seem to make a huge difference? is there anything else that i might be able to use?

WD-40. Prevents rust. You never inhale it either... at least I don't think
