Hookah Nicotine Filters

It's been bugging me at the back o'me head since I started smoking my hookah... I'm not typically a ciggy smoker, but now since I hookah quite often (2-6 times a week), I'm getting a good bit of nicotine in me.

What brought it home was my BF telling me lay off the hookah, he didn't want me to start smoking ciggys. (Although he'll stop and smoke during a session - not enough nico for his smoker lungs)

Since I do smoke cloves, i picked up a ciggy filter @ the local tobacco shop. Works pretty well, filters alot of the taste and some "black gunk" out, so if/when I smoke - I ALWAYS use my filter (Senda brand, I think). That got me thinking...

I've seen these "Nicotine Hookah filters" on several different websites and Ebay. They claim to work the same way the ciggy filters work. But... I'm skeptical

I worry they might remove all the taste or may not work as they promise.

Yes, I know smoking is bad for you... Even the Herbal Shisha's may not even be good (anything burned and inhaled can't be healthly in the long run - that's not how your lungs were designed to work), but if these may help, could they be worth the price?

Basiclly, I'm asking if anyone has used them before. If yes, what's your experience with them? Did they affect the taste, help cut ANYTHING back (and how the heck can you tell if they are?)...

I would like to know about the "diffusers" you put in the Base ? which are meant to create better filteration? Has anyone tryed those ?

adeel: I made one (see How-To section, use the search), it's on my 33" Egyptian. It cuts back the sound (of the bubbles) and does seem to add some to the taste. I don't want to pay $10 + shipping for it, but it seems to help some (depends on what your aiming for when you use it)

Update: Well, that's was interesting. I guess I won't let it bother me, I knew it was more the smoke anyways, but now it makes aittle more sense. I guess I should just expect what I get and get over it - smoking is bad, m'kay. Edited May 8, 2007 by lazria
