lazria
Last night I was discussing new hookah options - I want a nice 'showy" but fully functional 2-hose hookah. Our orginial Eygptian hookah is old and worn out, soon it will become a "display" piece rather than functional. We are both the type who likes the "older" styling stems - NEITHER of us really like the new mod designs or straight collunm stems. But I had been browsing around the various hookah sites and apsolutely (sp) fell in love with the MYA glass bases. So I showed the site to the male, he liked them, but alot of MYA's stems are styles we don't like. Then I showed him several styles like we do like.... and he's fallen in love with the X-Large Gold MYA Sets..... (SKU: 105-15 & 105-16)I also explained the ease in adapting the MYA's to 2 hose set-ups and now he's all for it!He wants to go to the store and view EVERYTHING before buying - plus I am NOT shipping another glass base (the last attempt just ended up chipped both times - good company, the shipper was to blame we believe). MYA in Sterling - 3hr 35min and 195.3 miles awaySo this now means in the next month or so, my and my BF are planning a side trip to MYA's store. We live in southern VA and my parents live in Northern MD, so we basiclly pass right by Sterling on our way up. He gets every other Wed & Thrusday off, so we can head up Tues after work, visit the parentage (BLARG) and on the way back down - detour to Sterling.I know a few people have been to their store - is it hard to find? Any tips? Anyone have these hookahs? Edited May 9, 2007 by lazria
bolt in blue
I haven't been to Mya Saray's store, but I've been to a storage facility my company used to use that's under 2 miles from their address. Basically, I would have gone a mile farther on Old Ox Road (VA-606). Even though Loudon County (where Sterling, VA is located) is one of the fastest growing counties in the nation, the section of Sterling that Mya is in is largely industrial. Old Ox Rd is one lane in each direction out there, with very few cross streets and lots of trees. Most of the buildings are warehouses--almost no houses in the immediate area. I'd suspect that the other tenants in 43671 Trade Center Place are going to be generic businesses, not retail stores. One of these days, I'm going to make it out there. I'd like a more substantial hookah from them--something that's unique. Too bad that it's a long ways from my house and all my office's stuff is out of storage now that we're in a bigger location (and farther from Sterling). I'd love to see Mya's selection in person.Oh, if you try to drive out there, watch your lanes carefully. Coming from Herndon, you cross the toll road twice to get there, and I almost ended up on the toll road by mistake both places the first time I went out there. One lane becomes the access to the toll road without much warning.
bolt in blue
I also just noticed as I was getting ready to close the window that the store is only open 10-5 Monday-Friday. So much for an evening or weekend trip out there. Bah!
leadpipecinch21
606 definitely is an odd road to be driving on, especially in northern virginia...don't see many roads like that in the area. But yeah, once i'm back in northern virginia(i'm in richmond attending college, going back home for the summer break and work) i'll be checking out the mya store and hopefully picking up an aqua colored "vortex"(the light green bohemian glass hookah if you look on the mya website). Hopefully the place isn't too hard to find.
jakescakes
I actually visited the Mya warehouse last week. I never knew it was so close to me all these years, so I drove 30 min to check it out, but didn't want to leave empty handed, I purchased my sister a Pink Acrylic for her birthday. It was difficult to pinpoint the store though. Since I didn't have the door number, but its Unit 114 for reference. You should pass a bunch of business doors with blinds on the windows, but than you will spot all the crystal hookahs of Mya. Its basically one big drywall cubicle inside. With all their products on shelves, a work desk and couple of leather sofas. than a door in the back where everything is stored. The hookah themselves are built pretty nicely. I've always liked them, but its really the customization factor that draws my interest. How every stem and base are interchangeable. ****when you pick out a hookah, make SURE the grommet they give you for the bowl it a tight fit*****Assemble it yourself when your there. Because I purchased two myas this month (one at the warehouse and one at a middle eastern market) and both times the box or carrying case came with a grommet that was too small and thin for the bowl to make a tight seal. Didn't want to go back since I have extras, and they only value at .25c But still that is my only concern as the grommet will render the hookah uselesssgood luck Edited May 9, 2007 by jakescakes
camelflage
yeah ive been by the store, its only about 15 minutes from me, and it wasnt super easy to find. i had to use my mobile to quickly go to their site to get the unit number because i couldnt spot it just driving by. they have most of their stuff in stock and on hand, so i bought a diva for a friends birthday and he assembled it in store and checked everything out before i left with it. i was pleased with the experience overall. hookaheveryday
So everything there is the same as what is listed on the website? I'm talking about maybe buying something unique from there. Edited May 9, 2007 by hookaheveryday
