ShishaFred
So I just got in my order from MNHookahs ( 1.3kg of tobacco and 2 boxes of Easy-Lite Japs).I was wondering what was the technique you guys used to light up those kind of coals. They are the chinese ( i think) knockoffs found on MNHookah with a silver coating. I've been suggested buying either a hotplate or a butane torch for them. What would you say is the most cost-effective way to get these guys started?Any input appreciated !
aldonb1
eh i just use a little portable hot plate thingy. very cheap. takes like 5 minutes to light some of `em up
Rubi-WAC
Stove works the best. On high for around 3 min on each side. Blow off that silver coating thoughI bought a butane portable stove and that heats it up real fast. Any other way is just too slow for my preference. The fabulous Ian
A couple of minutes on the stove to let them get hot, a few passes of my kitchen torch, or I toss them on a handy bonfire if I've got one running.
ezie
i use the bunsen burner and if a stove is available the stove the the best choice of them all. A couple of minutes on both side then i'm ready for a session. And oh blow of the silver coating and have a good smoking sessions.
cemab4y
I prefer to use a "blowtorch" type lighter, (Cost less than ten bucks). Just set up you hookah, then place the charcoal on top of the foil, then light the lighter. Focus the flame on a corner of the charcoal, while you draw on the hookah hose, the additional air flow assists the combustion process. Be patient, it takes a minute or two, for the charcoal to "catch". Once the charcoal begins to glow, you are all set, just enjoy the smoking. You should 'flip' the charcoal from time to time during the smoking session, this ensures that the coal will burn uniformly.
nofrendo
+1 blowtorch. 12 bucks for valve and propane at home depot. FAST to light, faster than a propane stove.
oggie505#2
torching them is the quickest and easyiest way
Sonthert
Stove.I find that using a blowtorch (or my second choice, a Zippo...faster and cheaper to refill) deposits a black soot on the coals...which somehow makes me feel uneasy.
