web250
Holy crap my Mya hose (came with QT) was probably the dirtiest thing I've ever seen in my life.Dozens of bits of black stuff. Black goo under the mouthtip, Orange-ish water came out.It was disgusting. It's now air/hang drying.Wash your hoses if they're washable people. speel
how did you wash it?
symptom CY
Easiest way I've found is to put an upside down grommet on one end of the hose and hold it flush with the faucet. Do the same if you want to flush it with lemon juice or whatever.I also tried to devise some fancy ways of drying, but wasn't very successful. I tried cutting the bottom off of a plastic bottle, putting one end of the hose up to the mouth end and a hair dryer up to the other. It does force a good amount of air through the hose, but it also really puts a strain on your hair dryer. I was afraid of burning out the motor or whatever. lolper
i got a mya acrylic how do i know if the hose is washable???
Rubi-WAC
I have MYA washable hoses, and got fed up with how they never stay clean and stuff always builds up in there. I cleaned mine with just warm water and occasionally 420 cleaner. Even after numerous times of cleaning almost after every use, when I cut it open I was still surprised how much build-up was still in between the metal coils. So like everyone else I just recently replaced all my hoses with this Tygon tubing and it is the shit! So freaking easy to clean, and has more mobility than a regular hose. symptom CY
It's true... washable hoses aren't all that washable. I mean, you can wash them, but they never really get that clean. I rinsed mine 6-7 times with rubbing alcohol once and thick nastiness came out every time. Couldn't even get it to get thinner. Better to just assign certain hoses to certain flavors, or do the tygon tubing thing. I've been thinking about that for a while.corbin: You say that tubing is flexible? I've heard some complaints about vinyl tubing being too stiff...
Rubi-WAC
Yea I first started out with the regular vinyl tubing at Home Depot (plumbing for refrigerators) and that was way too stiff. A slight pull too far could bring your hookah down. This tygon tubing is sooo bendable. I had a MYA long handle hose and the tygon is more bendable than that. the 3/8 ID 9/16 OD fits like a glove too.
sambookamax
wow, that sounds like some pretty amazing tubing! just what I have been looking for!
poopooshaboo
How do you connect the tubing to the base/hose adapter?
Rubi-WAC
Well if you have a MYA hose, (in which I'm pretty sure most of them except the wide should be the same) when you cut it open torwards the metal piece, it will have a 3/8" metal tube sticking out about an inch that the coil is wrapped around. Pull all the synthetic leather, plastic and wire out as much as possible. This will take a bit of time if you are a perfectionist like me. The with a tygon tubing at least 3/8" inside diameter and some superglue, it should fit right on there like a magnum on bigfoot.
poopooshaboo
kinda confused, do you perhaps have a picture?
Rubi-WAC
Thats the best I can do for a picture. Hope it helps.
poopooshaboo
what do you do on the other end?
Rubi-WAC
Both ends are exactly the same.
TheAlmightyClaw
Is this only really cost efficent if you want a long hose because a 6' mya washable hose is only $7 while the 6' tubing is $12.
