How Much Should I Be Packing?

Recommended Posts

hey everyone-

I'm new here, and I have been smoking hookah for about 5 months now. Just wanna know, how much are you really suppose to fill the bowl up? Like how many bowls can you make with a 50gram pack?

Ive actually been messing around with my setup to answer these questions myself and I can honestly say that the possibilities are pretty numerous. In my experience, the amount of shisha can vary with the amount of coals you intend to use, the type of shisha, and the type and size of bowl. Personal preference of taste can also play a role here.

I suggest going through the following link as a starting point:

In additon, if you could provide details of your setup, bowl etc. it would allow others to give you pointers based on what you are using.

Cheers,

Hey boulderkid303,

There are many types of bowls out there so a concrete amount is hard to say, they can range from 10 gm to 60 gm capacity. The best rule-of-thumb is you want to leave about 1/4 inch of space between the tobacco and the top of the bowl/foil. This will make sure that you are not directly burning tobacco but rather heating it. Also, make sure not to pack it too densely as this will make for way more work when milking for the first puff and it will waste tobacco as more will burn at the top and the bottom will not even get touched. Just fluff the tobacco lightly into the bowl and leave some space and you should be good with any type of bowl you use.

Hope this helps. wink.gif

haha. I used to make 50g packages last for about 10 bowls ohmy.gif

That is when i was a newbie - but you can do it. I used to use a really small stainless steel bowl.

Which is good for smaller bowls as it transfers the heat all around. But the bowl is done after about 50mins.

So yer, you can make it stretch - but it all depends on bowl size and expectations smile.gif

No wonder you had trouble with Tangiers! wink.gif

I use about 70g in a large phunnel. I do smoke for 6-10 hours normally, on the other hand, too.

Don't fill the bowl to the end, the smoke should be free in the bowl itself making it flow better, in the end put about 90% of the bowl and after placing foil shake the bowl around for the tabaco to spread in the bowl itself.
