Buying A New Hookah. Thoughts On Rotators

Recommended Posts

I'm looking into buying a new hookah

Within the 150-200 price range
I've got two room mates and we all smoke often and I was wondering what the general feeling on rotators is... good? bad? any real difference?

I want something that looks stylish but gives a good smoke too.

Thanks laugh.gif

ok, i have a rotator. its a love hate relationship.

got a few questions/answers, how even of a surface are you smoking on, my ground is not leval so it kinda makes the hookah shake as you pull on it.

it does make passing around a circle a hell of alot better, never have to think about it tipping over.

do you like putting ice in your hookah, it alot harder to do with most rotators because of the screw together desighn the hole for the stem is like 3/4 inch accrost. you can unscrew at the top of the glass for a big hole but i feel like everytime i do that the seal gets worse! it is only like 2 full turns till its tight. and isnt the best at holding air unless you get it super tight.

why not just build a lazy suzan, thats what im doing for my next one. prolly

peace.

buying a small lazy susan would be my vote. I've used a couple rotators, and they're nice, but i prefer how a full size egyptian or mod hookah smokes compared to the rotator. So, i'd buy an egyptian or mod, put the lazy susan underneath, and have a rotateable hookah with, in my eyes, a better smoking hookah.

Hey leftovermerk,

One of the first hookahs I used was a traditional one hose 30" Egyptian rotator. It smoked extremely well and rotated very smoothly (many rotators spin on a tilt). The only complaints I personally have with rotators, at least the ones I've used, are that the bubbling noises are much louder then non-rotators (it's distracting), and its harder to add ice to the base (although not much harder) as bigmahlman has mentioned.

Rotators work best with large crowded groups because of their usual wide base as well as their rotating ability. If you’re going to smoke with just a couple of friends most of the time, I would recommend getting either a Mya Saray Cloisonne hookah, or a Khalil Mamoun...or both!! tongue.gif

Hope this helps with your decision! smile.gif

Here's a thought:

Instead of buying one with a rotator, why not just place the entire hookah on a lazy susan?

I really don't like rotators... Heres why... If you normally smoke in a group, get a multiple hose...SO MUCH EASIER TO PASS. I love my 2 hose, i never smoke alone, so it works just right for me... then if you smoke alone occasionally, put a rubber stopper in instead of the other hose, no trouble at all... PLus with a rotator one hose you have to wait while the other person smokes, and stops, and smokes, and stops... multiple hoses let poeple smoke while the other person takes break between puffs.

And if your getting a rotator multi hose... it's pointless, because if you want to pass your hose and others aren't done you cant really rotate or it will pull their hoses

Only rotator I smoked out of seemed wobbly and it was a piece of crap. It has been used a lot.

Just like everyone else said, I think you would be better off not buying a rotator. It's functionality might be handy for awhile, but I know I would grow tired of it, and what something more sturdy and stationery.
