Mya Diva Awesome

Guest

Recommended Posts

I have been smoking a mya diva for about a month now and first off they are awesome, look nice, durable, and smoke really thick. However, sometimes the smoke tastes stale or I will get a bad aftertaste that tastes like plastic. At first I just thought I had to break in the hookah and get rid of the new hookah smell. I tried cleaning it really well and blowing the smoke back in to clear it, but I have no idea why it has a really bad aftertaste. I also cleaned the hose.

Could be that
*Your coal aren't any good, giving after taste, a common scenrio when using cheap QuickLight coals.
*You don't know how to make a good head... if that's the case make sure to:
1. give space between leafs of tabaco so the smoke will flow down
2. Use double tin coil

Or it's the tabaco, try a few other brands to compare.

I Don't think the problem is with your Hookah, actully Hookah's don't age, they just pass smoke cool it down and you smoke it, the Hookah is the tool, if you didn't brake it i don't think that there's a problem with it.
If a problem is preset i suggest making sure that the coals are good, that the tabaco is good, and making sure your head is well made.
good luck.

Yeah, cheap quicklights can make the smoke taste nasty. Use 3 kings if you can. I also run lemon juice through the stem, base, and hose to get rid of lingering odor and taste.

EDIT: The hose would have to be a washable type if you intend to run a liquid through it.

All the above advice is 100% Sound.

One thing that i picked up on was the idea of it having a plastic taste.... that seems odd.

You havn't got a piece of packaging material stuck somewhere maybe?
What tobacco are using? Brand & Flavour - and what date (if) is stamped on the packet.

Plastic taste is kinda odd.

I had that plastic taste for the first couple of time when I smoked my new hookah as well. If you have a MYA hose, or a washable with the plastic paper inside the tubing, that could be the cause of that. It goes away fast.

Thanks for the input, when I use silver quik lights it tastes really chemically but regular golden or 3 kings or rolland all give off the same flavor. It seems that I cannot taste plastic with the smileys (it never gives me the problem) but I taste it a lot with Romman and sometimes al-waha. I guess it must be the tobacco b/c the coals all seem to be the same. Is starbuzz as good as smileys then?

If the lemon juice suggestion doesn't work for you, here's a concept I've always considered trying for prepping new hookahs:

Get a manual syphon pump, attach it to the end of your hose, and burn a few bowls of cheap flavorless or vanilla shisha. This will coat the bowl, stem, and hose with residue that will block any bad taste or odor, essentially "breaking in" the hookah for future sessions.
