Starbuzz Problem

Recommended Posts

ok so i just got some starbuzz in today, set up the hookah, cold water and whatnot. the problem is it was a little harsh, not like head buzz but the the flavor was odd it burned up quick! it was like sharp, like it stung or somthing.
my setup was a phunnle bowl with mod, a small quick light and a half (3kings)

my initial thought was acclimating. but im not shure. my water was a little higher than normal.

flavor was peaches and cream.

any other thoughts

the smoke wasnt very thing either.

hope we can figure this out

Hey bigmahlman,

Starbuzz is not like Tangiers, so when you pack it into the Phunnel bowl don’t be too generous. Just pack it regularly, loosely and fluffy with 1/4 inch of space between the tobacco and the foil. I don’t think you would need to acclimate Starbuzz as it is a washed tobacco and doesn’t need to mix with the air to produce a good smoke, but I’m not positive about this.

If this is how your setup was, you may have packed it with too many stems, Starbuzz is premium tobacco but it still has remnants in it, so if you catch to much stuff that’s not tobacco it will burn harder.

Other than that I can’t think of much else that would cause Starbuzz to smoke like that.

Hope this helps. wink.gif

Im thinking that you either packed too much shisha and burnt it, punched too much holes in foil, or put holes over the funnell? I dont know how experienced you are so that could or couldn't be it. I never have that problem with starbuzz. Also 1 and half coals seems like not enough. I use large funnell bowl and put minimum 2 big 3k coals on

mines a medium phunnle

i havebeen smoking for a while. like before i got on the forum, and that was October 05 i woudl say 3 years

dont more coals make it burn faster?

i defenatly need to pack it lighter, i read that when using the scalli mod you need to pack it tight so i packed it tight.

im thinking on my next bowl, i will pack it light with no scalli mod and use 2 coals

anyone apposed to this Edited by bigmahlman

I hadn't really thought much on this before, but it is summer and with the temperature change, you might find that you don't need as much heat as you're used to.

Try reducing your heat source to about a quarter to a half of your regular amount.

SB shouldn't be harsh at all... it always burns amazing to me. I would say go back to basic...
use one quicklight, fill the shisha where it sits just maybe 1/8 inch away from foil, no mod...see what you come up with

so i just smoked a bowl of grape and a bowl of candy, they were both amazing!
got a little sick/lightheaded after the second one, but i thinks its because i was doing a little to much smoking and not enough breathing.

i packed my small clay bowl about an eight inch from the top. I left the tabaco nice and fluffy.

gona try out the phunnel again later, when people are over!
