TheAlmightyClaw
I am going to make the base scalli made http://www.hookahforum.com/index.php?showt...hl=led&st=0 for the Khalil Mamoon (that I just ordered ) that I am going to order, and I was wondering if I should try to add wheels to it. The problem is that I need something to raise it above the ground for I can put the batteries and the switch underneath. I was thinking that instead of just using wooden spheres that he used. I would use lockable casters http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...1P&v=glance, so I can move it around the floor if I want to, or I could lock them which would allow me to put it on my coffee table without hopefully falling over as easily. Long and shortKeep the wooden balls because it will make it sturdier Go for the casters to make it better and more functional Edited May 21, 2007 by TheAlmightyClaw
Scalliwag
I am thinking that a lot would depend on the floor surface and if you secured the hookah to the base. Definately not good for carpet. A smooth surface would be okay possibly but casters have a tendency to pivot a little awkwardly when you change direction and they have to rotate.I lean towards thinking it would be more trouble than it would be worth. If you did try something like that I would be more prone to using transfer bearings because by design they redirect with no awkward mechanical adjusting. Here is a diagram of what they look like. Commonly you will see these used ball side up on transfer tables, etc spaced closely to roll heavy boxes across. You could make a locking mechanism fairly simple but at the end of the day you would probably not feel all the effort was worth the end result. Then again you could pull the hookah around like a dog on a leash and talk to it and freak the hell out of people. So it could be damn fun. Allia22
Screw the wheels, put some subs on it. No need to roll it, just let it vibrate to where you want it to go.
