Stargate Finger Coals

Recommended Posts

Basically, if you use these coals and like them.. or hell, Hate them, I'm curious. I've read the 1 review in the coal section, and searching doesn't yield more than a few "these coals rock" responses, I know alot of you use these, just am lookin for some questions answered.

A. About how long do they take to light with a propane torch? I am using Jap EZ lights and they take about 45 seconds to a minute per side

B. How well do they burn in terms of good temp, not too hot or too cool, and how long?

C. Are they perforated in anyway or do you just break them where you see fit? If so, what sizes do yall crack them at?

D. How well do they ash? Fall apart? stick in a clump?

E. Smell while lighting? Burning?

F. Any brands of shisha you have a problem with or that this works really well with??

Feel free to answer any or All of these questions, Thx.

ive got some. here's my thoughts:

Pros -
- Round = Good. The triangle junk was kind of annoying.
- Easier to break than the al Ajdad i was using
- Light fairly quick, and ash really well. I usually just place my tongs on either side and jiggle them to get the ash off before i put them on the bowl.
- Burn clean and thorough. Nothing but dust when they burn out.
- Last a while. A couple decent sized chunks can last an hour and a half and it still fits under the lid.

Cons -
- Once lit, coals are very fragile. I have had them come apart more than once while moving them on the stove or transferring them to the bowl. One coal even split long-ways down the middle.

That said, i am really happy with them. they perform like the coals we had in the lounge back in the day, so they get the thumbs up from me.

Stargate Coals:

A: Heat up the same time if not faster than Canary Golden Japs on the stove

B: I was surprised how many of these coals I actually had to use. I would figure they would be hotter. They last awhile though. Thats a plus.

C: They are just solid bars. I put about 2 one-inch to start the bowl and then about another inch of them to keep it going.

D: There is a lot more ash than a EZ Jap

E: Smells like a campfire, some people may not like it, but I do.

F: I do not like using these with Tangiers. Any cheap brand they work great on.
