Different Fluids In Base

Recommended Posts

Has anyone ever put like rum or wine or anything in the base instead of water? If so, how did it taste? We need some Budweiser flavored shisha. Or hard liquor, like Jack, Jose, or Jim (Daniels, Cuervo, or Beam). Lol I know them all on a first name basis. Preferably made by Starbuzz, Tangiers, Layalina, or Fumari. That would make me happy smile.gif. Beer and hookah = heaven. Can't have beer in the base though, sad.gif you'll have total head and no beer wink.gif.

I've used vodka. It definately had a vodka-ish taste.....which just ruined the fruit and tobacco flavor to be honest. I think i'll try it again with vodka and orange AF to see if it tastes like a screwdriver.....
I've heard wine is a good choice, kind of sweetens it up a bit.

I have recently found a great drink to put in the base, if you live near a costco pick up some zipfizz. It is a powder that you put into water to turn it into a drink, i personally dont like the drink, but one day i put it in the base and the reslut was amazing. There was so much citrus-y flavor it was great.

I have read about individuals who put milk in the reservoir. I cannot imagine the flavor, but I understand it changes the character and richness of the smoke. I myself, have never used anything except water (sometimes ice). I may do some experimentation later. What have you heard about milk?

I finally got a chance to try milk in a vase at the Cafe in Raleigh when I went by to tell em I wouldn't be aroundmuch and thanks for the fun times.

The owner was smoking Cola with milk in the base. He used scrushed ice to keep the milk from bubbleing up into the stem and hoses, a common mistake. He said because the milk was denser it changed the characteristics of the smoke as it was pulled through it. I personally didn't really notice much of a difference.

He sure did apparently on the third day he did this and got lazy and forgot to cleanout the hookah afterwards. Apparently it took them 20 minutes to a half hour to scrub the sour milk out of his hookah.

I'll stick to water thanks.

I've tried it before. I used strawberry milk with strawberry shisha. One of the biggest mistakes I've ever made when it comes to smoking. The milk/water mixture bubbled up and got in my hose and ruined it. I put about 6 ounces in the water and it still did that. I'm never doing it again.

i smoked AW orange cream today with tropicana tangerine fruit squeeze(tangerine flavored water). i poured in a bottle of that, put water for the rest, and added a couple dozen ice cubes. it definitely tasted stronger, but the smoke was harsh. i'm sure it was more a problem of my heat control. i think i'll try using all fruit squeeze and no water over the weekend.

I highly HIGHLY recommend you don't use milk in your vase, not only does it have very small effects theres a high chance of milk particles getting in your hose and everyone knows how good sour milk tastes / smells. wink.gif
I've used..
Orange Juice ( good with fruity shisha )
Kool aid ( good with ANY shisha it seems to make it "fresher" )
Vodka ( tastes like shit )
Wine ( good depending on what type of shisha is in, easily overpowers most shisha )
Lemonade ( good with lemon shisha!!! )
Gatorade ( tastes like nothing )

I recommend using peals in your vase you'll be surprised with the result

Wonderful. Now we've got some new ones to try! Keep 'em comin'! By the way, I tried vodka and I almost puked. Cheap vodka though. I then retried with Skyy Vodka and it was ok (not a big vodka fan). Then I tried rums like Bacardi 151, Bacardi Superior, Bacardi Gold and all were ok (if you can drink hard liquor straight and like it, I'd reccomend it). Then I tried Jack Daniels and I thought that wasn't bad AT ALL. It was enjoyable. But best of all . . . Try shnapps!!!! OMG!!!!! Schnapps come in all flavors and it GREATLY enhances the flavor! By the way, schnapps only have 15% alc. per vol. Beer has 5%. Just a comparison. You can't really feel the alcohol burn when you drink it. So it's more fruity flavor. If smoking mint straight, try peppermint schnapps! Drinking peppermint schnapps is like drinking mouthwash! You're mint will be mintier lol. Anyway, I'm going to try more things. I'll post them here when I do. Amazing me and my other under 21 friends could muster up this much alcohol.

Remember! Try schnapps! You won't use water ever again! lol

I once put cider in the base, but it frothed up way to much so had to stop straight away. A good mix in the base is high juice, which is a stronger fruit cordial. I used tropical with afzal golden amber was very very nice, they two different flavours complemented each other amazingly, highly recomend it!!

The other day I smoked some Layalina Strawberry with about 2-3 shots of Strawberry liquor in the base. At first, all I got was a buzz and no taste, after about 20 min, the strawberry taste just hit like a ton of bricks! Really candish tasting, but very good. Will be trying this again.

Milk? I tried it - TOO MANY BUBBLES! And that was like 4oz! But now I remembered to clean out the base but OMG... I think I forgot to wash the STEM, icky!

I wanna try the Chocolate syurp with the Afternine/Cocomint, see if that helps the chocolate taste.

hahaha, when I FIRST started smoking, the very first night, someone told me to try some milk in the base. SOOOO, I filled the base up with milk, and well, lets just say there was LOTS of bubbles! LOL!!!

Now, I just put about a cap full of milk into the base with some cold filtered water and ice cubes smile.gif

Sometimes I put Raspberry Crystal Light in the base, with Raspberry shisha, that is pretty tasty!

Or Lemon Crystal Light, and some slices of lemon with Lemon shisha...

Cheers!

Hey txhookahman,

I just pulled this from our website, hope it helps. wink.gif

Some mixing basics- (in case you dont already know these)

- When adding liquids that are naturally denser than water you should never use solely that liquid. It should always be mixed with cold water.
- The preferable proportions are 1 to 1. That is 1 part water for every 1 part of miscellaneous liquid. In the case of milk, if you are using whole milk or cream than you may want to up the ratio to 2 to 1 as it is a pretty heavy liquid.
- You should only use a liquid other than water without mixing if it is a juice or alcohol. The general rule of thumb is if you can see through it than you don't need to mix, if you can't then use the ratios listed above.

Some Variations we have found particularly pleasing in the past:

Rose tobacco with peach iced tea in the vase
Mint tobacco with crushed altoids(or any mints) in the ice-colde water (Mint Scream)
Red wine (prefferably Merlot) with tropical flavors such as grape, plum, peach, pineapple or bannana. (You must be 21 to purchase or consume alcoholic beverages)
Citrus rich tobacco's which have complimentary flavored juices available such as orange, pineapple or apple are a good combination.
For a stronger buzz you can use hard alcohol such as vodka or congac in the vase, roughly 3 shots for a medium sized hookah, in concert with tropical flavors like apple, mango, pineapple, melon and so on. (You must be 21 to purchase or consume alcoholic beverages)
Exotic tobacco's such as cappuccino, coffee, vanilla and strawberry mix well with Milk. (Please review vase mixing basics above)
You may also want to consider mixing fresh fruit in the vase for enhanced flavor.
