What Is The Damn Problem With Mn?

Recommended Posts

I love being ignored.

Tangiers, Sonerth, Rod. Whilst i allways enjoying reading your lengthy responses, you missed a point here.
HC.com have never to me confirmed that they have a 'day' to ship international. And I've never read it on there website.

mn.com usually ship within a day -or- two.

And I've never seen anything that says they ship international on a friday or any other day.

And USPS International have allways been ok for me. No problems either end. Apart from the time it takes to sometimes put a package onto an available aircraft. However that is out of everyone's hands!

They told me via PM when I had an aborted order attempt with them and if you email them I think they will tell you the same. They didn't seem particularly ashamed of the policy when they told me and as tangiers mentioned if they are going to have this particular order day they should tell people what it is so that they can co-ordinate their order with it.

Oh don't get me wrong. I think this is a great policy. Unfortunetly myself and others have never experienced this happening in reality. However it maybe a recent thing.

I'd rather know that company x only ships on a friday so one must order by Close Of Play wednesday to ensure shipment by the end of that week.

Removes any doubts or confusion.

HC.com are to be commended as they have also gotten all my packages through and have a great selection of goodies. My only beef with them was the complete ignorance of my emails and phone calls concerning when they might ship.

Might be time to place an order and see what happens.

hey i waited a gd month for my HC package to arrive to australia mate.

Yeah well with Hookah company there official policy is to only ship out international orders at the end of the week. And no matter how they want to spin that its essentiall discrimination against people that paid the same price for the product and the full cost of the government postage. So it is absolutely no justified.

I don't see your logic at all. The primary means of shipping for most domestic shipments of the on-line retailers, including Hookah Company, is either Fed-Ex or UPS ground. These are private companies, they have nothing to do with the US government. The USPS (United States Postal Service) is a quasi-United States Government service. The reason that many companies only ship out once a week (for international orders) is that they are shipped the cheapest route possible, USPS, which has very strict rules regarding some types of shipments, including tobacco. You could ship international, using Fed-Ex surface, but it would cost more and take a lot longer. You could ship Fed-Ex Air which costs a lot. Since the shipping methods are different, it poses logistical problems, obviously. I don't know of any court, government or law that has ever held that charging different rates for shipping to foreign countries is discrimination. It involves more time and work for them, so I think calling it discrimination is way overkill. To rectify your perceived discrimination, you could request Hookah Company ship it Fed-Ex ground, like they do with most of their standard domestic packages. It will be shipped out in a timely manner, then, instead of once a week. It would probably take closer to 2-3 months to get to you, but then you would be treated like everyone else. It would cost more too, but discrimination or not, shipping to foreign countries costs more. Like it or not. In fact, Hookah Company and many other online-retailers ship USPS internationally to save you time and money. The fact that the USPS service is much poorer than Fed-Ex service explains why they are shipped out once a week. It creates a logistical problem to ship out USPS packages on a daily basis. Additionally, the amount of time that a package is held by your country's customs service (Whatever country it is) can vary from a couple of days to a couple of months...no matter what country it is. Many European countries have customs delays of 1-45 working days (Hi, Kofod!). You might be lucky to get it so fast, really.

In fact, most companies I ask about their international shipping (That ship by USPS internationally but use a different shipper for domestic shipments) tell me they ship only once or twice a week too, usually only once. The fact that Hookah Company told you the truth is what baffles me. Most companies are going to, as a matter of course, ship internationally once per week and not tell which day, if they even have a set day, so you have no idea what day is the right day to order. At least Hookah Company tells you about which day to order (and which days not to by elimination). One company I'm thinking of, specifically, waits until they have 20 or so packages for international shipments and then ships them. It might be a week or two for them to ship out. It might be two days...no telling. Overall, I agree with your sentiment of your post. If you don't like a company's policy, don't order from them. Tell them you don't like the delivery times and see if they can work something out with you. Be respectful and professional and your provider generally will do everything in their power to accommodate you. I talk to a lot of on-line retailers, whether I sell them Tangiers Tobacco or not. Some people, I have heard from some companies, including George at Hookah Company, try to threaten them "Oh, I'll trash you on Hookah Forum if you don't give me free overnight shipping." or "I'll give you a good review if you upgrade my shipping." or something along those lines; seriously. These guys do have the power to ship you not quite as nice a hookah or a dented/damaged box or other stuff, so try to be nice! Try other companies, see who ships the best to your country.

Which company ships international that works best for you, PP?

Tangiers most online companies including MN I believe only offer USPS or in some cases also that other option which I can't remember. I don't know if it is private or government but considering it can get up to $30 dollars for some light orders its really not an option. Esspecially if you want to order a shisha in which case it reaches up to $80 dollars.

My point is that the international customers pay the same price for the product and the full cost of what ever their custom shipping method may be. Bearing this in mind their really is no justification for the difference in priority between American and non-american customers. And while I never suggested that this discrimination can be used in a court of law, it is extremely poor form by the companies and they will find out in time that they don't really have a monopoly on this business and people will find places where they are considered equal.

As for what company I like, I would have to say hookah-shisha. They posted my package 2 days after I made the order and that is all I expect from the company in terms of this aspect. What ever delays occur after that is the problem of the government postage services in either country.

Hey man, if you don't wanna pay the company's shipping rates, stop ordering from the company. You pay the price to get the goods from the United States. You can't have your cake and eat it too, pal. That's the process they use and I doubt they are going to change their ways for one person. Write a formal business letter to them addressing the issues at hand. They might resopond, they might not. It all depends on how they feel. You are at their discretion. You are the consumer. You must wait on the process for international shipping. It's not discrimination to ship at the end of the week for international orders. It makes it easier on them with all the Customs forms and such that needs to be filled out. Every time they ship something to you, it's a pain in the ass due to all the paperwork that has to be filled out and such. I'm not calling you a pain in the ass. I'm calling paperwork a pain in the ass. They have to ensure everything is peachy before it can be shipped out. It does sit at Customs to be checked and all. So there are reasons for your delay.

I hate shipping overseas. I still do it, but it really is a pain. I hate filling out customs forms, and stuff, you have to fill everything out twice, and if you have mroe than a few packages... it's a big giant ordeal that takes forever. I can completely agree with shipping out only once or twice a week. reason being....

1. If you have domestic mail you can print your shipping labels in your STORE/ OFFICE. and then have the USPS come pick them up and whisk them away to their destinations....... without ever having to leave home ( i like this method...)

2 If you have international for 1, USPS does not pick up international packages from "home"/ office... (at least not from my area), so instead i have to drive to load up my many packages, drive to the post office, unload, bring inside, stand i line to get customs labels, get out of line when you get them and stand to the side and fill out for each package. then label, and then RE label, attach the customs forms, then finally stand in line.... and the packages are then taken........ usually if i have 6 packages going out of the us.... it takes me more than an hour..... to get them sent... i mean standing in line is FOREVER LONG in it's self........

it sucks, but like i said before, ihave had plenty of companies/ people from other countries say and do the same thing with me. It's a give and take.

Yes your product should have shipped how and when you paid for it. I completely agree. and you should be compensated.

But as for "discremination" - i'm sorry mate, but i just can't agree with you on this. It really is a time consuming process, yes you paid for your product just the same, but how much money would a company lose if they went to the USPS every day? I know when i did, i wasted lots of gas, lots of time, money, pay and i was just overall tired. so i switched it once a week/ twice a week depending.

can't vouche for ups or fedex- i do know they are bloody expensive though. bleck
