wyteboy
anyone ever try coconut charcoal? I have seen this advertised on a few websites...I would LOVE the lemon wood if they werent so messy and also so irreguarly shaped and hard to keep in direct contact with the foil...the coconut coals seem to come in square shapes so I think they'd be easy to use. But it also seems like they could possibly add a coconut flavor to every smoke which would be annoying....thoughts?
mushrat
do you use a foil wrap around the bowl like a chimney?
Jeff_T
I actually was down at the local hookah lounge today, Smileys, and they were using the coconut coals. I thought they worked very well and didn't seem messy like the lemon woods at all. They were in similar bars like the japanese, but didn't have the silver coat on them. They were using a little portable hot plate to start them up and they lasted for a while. using two i smoked a bowl of guava/cherry for a good hour + and there was still coal left when the ma'assel was done. I'd def. give them a try, esp. if they are only $10 at thehookah. (only place i've looked so far)
cypress
The coconut refered to on this is the wood of the coconut not the actual coconut it self I think. I might give them a shot too some time.
