Surprise Tattoos

What would you do if your girlfriend/fiancee/wife called you and told you her and her friend were getting matching tattoos? On the wrist nonetheless. I'm not big on tattoos by any means, so what do you guys suggest I do? I suggested a smaller, different tatto. She wanted a yellow star with a red heart inside of it. One thing, I hate yellow and red combonation. She loves yellow and pink roses so I suggested a rose with a yellow core that fades outward to pink. Any advice?

I wouldn't exactly be happy, but like rootdown said, its her body and she can do what she wants. Its just like how my parents felt when I told them that I was going to get a tattoo. They were upset that I would do such a thing, but I told them that in the end that it was my body and my decision. Who knows, maybe she'll make it up to you by getting that rose tattoo idea of yours.

i think you should let her get what she wants. My fiance and I are constantly struggling when it comes to body modification. He doesn't like tattoo's on woman and I LOVE them.

It's her body, her life. She is your wife yes, but by you sensoring her, you will create more problems.

My fiance finally agreed that i can do whatever i want, as long as i make sure to think it through and he's with me. ( i only have one currently but i have plans for more in the near future). I just think it's bs because he wants tattoo's he just isn't to keen on needles.

Your wife and best friend should get them, if they have thought it out.

is she your wife/ girlfriend"? if she is not married to you then you def should let her get what she wants because unfortunately, relationships may not last, and you dont want her to regret changing it and risk hating it later because of a relationship. Edited by kornkitten42

I'm going against the flow here.

Wrist tattoo's look ghastly at best.

I would suggest that you mention to her that one she may well be sitting in an interview for that
job that she really wants... It's not going to look too good is it?

And before everyone gets on the 'dont judge a book by its cover' Remember one thing :- You have only one
first impression.

My girl did the same shit. Her and 3 of her friends got this retarded ass star that kinda looks like a flower. It is whack. Oh well, I still say you bang her friend and say you thought it was her because you saw the tattoo!! tongue.gif biggrin.gif laugh.gif

My friend got a tattoo on her wrist, I actually like it a lot. Anyway, as your wife, I would have expected her to not get the tat - purely out of respect for you as her husband. I personally think a small, "happy" tattoo won't affect her ability to get a job nearly as much as a large obtrusive one, but it may give them the wrong impression nonetheless.

Good luck to both of you, I hope it turned out ok, and that you might like it smile.gif

I'm with JD. That shit ain't cool. If my girlfriend did that she knows I'd dump her. Not to sound rude or anything, but I'm not going to have a serious relationship with somebody who permanently alters their body on a whim. I wouldn't be proud of someone who did that and would be embarrassed when they were around my family members. I think it's pretty disrespectful. And the whole fucking up your economic future forever is kinda a downfall.

Now serious relationships aside, tattoos are fucking hot. Nipple rings, tongue rings, hot tattoos, they're all great. I love the whole piercing/tattoo scene, but I would not want somebody who does that to their body to raise children with me. I know that sounds horrible, and I don't want people to think I hate them because they have a tattoo (like I said, they're hot), but the whole inking your body deal is not a characteristic of someone that I would be very proud of. If that's how they want to go about life then it's fine with me. I wish them the best of luck and we can still be great friends. Just not something I'd be comfortable showing children or relatives (not the gf's fault at all, I know I'm picky on this subject).
Now tattoos of your grandma's initials because you were really close to her and she tragically passed away are a different issue. As long as they're not too overdone.

I'm not a wrist tattoo fan. They look fine, but are impossible to hide. A friend of mine (girl) has "theos ein" on one wrist and "agape" on the other. That's not going to pose any problems to her career as a hairdresser, but it could if she wanted to do something in the business world.

Plus, stars are so last week.

tell her if she gets that, than you're going to get a tattoo of texas across your back : )

I'm currently drawing it up. I'm going to get a medium sized (6"x6" or so) in the center of my back. I love Texas like some people love cigarettes (a lot lol) and I want something that I can look at and feel that since of pride even more than I already do. Sooo, she already knows that. Plus it's something that people understand and it's hidden from view for interviews and such.

I feel the same about CA...I'm getting the outline of the state on my back/right hip, filled with CA Poppies (state flower).

And here I thought getting my state in ink would be unique =P lol

Is Agape in Koine Greek or is it in English?

Well, even though it's said and done, in the future, if she wants to get a tattoo somewhere and you don't like the idea, tell her. If she ignores you, tell her that body part is fat and a tattoo there would look gross. That ought to do it.

Kidding, kidding.

But along the lines of the wrist tattoo, I'm planning on getting one in the future (although second guessing it now with all the bad feedback on wrist tattoos), but one that wraps around like a band, but so that I can hide it under my watch if need be. It'll just be black, so it shouldn't stand out too much with my black watch band covering it.
