lazria
I've noticed that several people here hinted that they "resmoke" a bowl of shisha. For those who have NO idea what I'm blathering on about, basiclly if you pack a head and don't finish the shisha off in a single session, you go back to reuse the same head (shisha) at a later point. My question is slightly complexe - my BF is a ciggy smoker. I'm not - I tend to put out a ciggy after a drag or two. Once upon a time I tried re-lighting one and he snapped at me, telling me that the "bad crap" in ciggys are multipled when re-lit and smoked. basiclly he NEVER resmokes a ciggy after it's been put out - it gets tossed and he lights a new one.In relation to hookahs, is re-using already heated/burnt shisha gonna add to the harmful effects? And this question is NOT ABOUT how hookah smoking affects your health - we all know that it's smoking and can be harmfull, I'm wondering if resmoking shisha is similar to resmoking a ciggy.Am I making any sence? Akkbar
Im a cigar and pipe smoker. Id never resmoke a cigar. Onn light, and either you finish it or it gets tossed. With my pipe, I can and have resmoked it, many times. Sometimes I light for a quick few puffs, then put it back in my jacket where it goes out, then light it up again later. No problem. With the cigar, i find it tastes like ass if resmoked. Pipe, no problems there.Hookah, I don't like to and never have resmoked. I don't know about multiplying bad stuff, but then ciggs are in a whole other realm of suicide when compared to other baccy.
The King
dunno about the health effects but it seems like after youve styarted it and it heats up then dries out resmoking it would be really harsh and gross
DrunkenWizard
I've resmoked, only with the phunnel bowl though. It was ok.
Calcartman
I have resmoked tobacco, but only using my tangiers head, and only after yanking the foil off and flipping the tobacco (so the wet stuff was on the top). But i see no reason it should be harmfull in any way. lazria
kool, I just wanted to see what other people had/hadn't done. I have a phunnel still packed with Tangier Kiwi from Monday - I only could smoke some of it before it kicked my bum and didn't want to waste it. I already kinda figured I'd have to remove the burnt top stuff and give it a good stir, but if others do it then it isn't gonna kill me.Danke peoples
hookah hippie
If a session is cut short and there is tangible tobacco at the bottom of the bowl and it isn't really burnt I will save the tobacco I have also if I went somewhere I would relight the bowl but I have never left a bowl with tobacco in it to smoke later
Macho555
I do from time to time...sometimes I light the hookah, leave for work, and then come back to it after I get home. Tangiers in particular doesn't seem to mind getting relit, most things taste like ass if they were smoked too much the first time...
mushrat
I too have resmoked a bowl if i had to stop early. No problems thouh flipping the puck is something I do do.I'd question the basic truth behind the ciggy thing myself...
newsman
I've resmoked, both by flipping the puck and just heating up the tobacco as it was. I can't say that I've cared for either method. It wasn't harsh, it just seemed to lack the flavor that fresh tobacco provides. I'd rather repack and start anew. Shisha ain't THAT expensive... xDizzyGuyx
I've resmoked bowls with my phunnel and regular bowls... didn't have much luck with the regular but I have had luck with the phunnel for resmoking
yashman19
I've discovered a few things when I've re-smoked in the past. If I light a bowl, walk away for 20-30 minutes, it doesn't really taste any different, but it takes a bit to get the smoke back to its original thickness. If I light a bowl, and come back to it a few hours later, I just can't seem to get hardly any smoke out of it, and the taste is a little bland, which can probably be attributed to the tobacco drying out a bit.But I rarely have to re-smoke. If I'm ever in that situation, I just repack a new bowl. Not a big deal to me, because I have a metric butt-ton of tobacco on hand, so I don't mind wasting 30-40 grams here or there. lazria
The only tobacco I worry about is my Tangiers - I have so little and don't want to waste it. I'm a weakling and it takes me a alwhile to get thru a bowl of it in the first place (I need to get a smaller phunnel or something). I don't resmoke any other brand. mgcsinc
The claims about increased health problems with relit things - cigarettes, cigars, or hookah - is almost certainly bullshit.
sambookamax
I have resmoked a phunnel before, the next day. When I took the foil off to clean the bowl, I noticed that it still looked juicy! and the flavor was soooo good the night before, and was the last of it I had, so I resmoked it Only done that the one time though, the flavor was Fusion Banana.I would do it again too ... with the phunnel only though, not with a standard Egyptian bowl.Cheers! Øskorei
QUOTE (mgcsinc @ Jun 1 2007, 04:45 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>The claims about increased health problems with relit things - cigarettes, cigars, or hookah - is almost certainly bullshit.I'm going to chip in and say that I agree with mgcsinc in that it sounds like bollocks. The biggest issue is that your tobacco (cig/pipe/bowl/whatever) will taste stale because the the smoldering surface area heat has corrupted the top surface, and also the fact that the stale smoke that the bottom layers have been filtering have had a chance to remain stagnant, and make for a stinky leftover remnant of chosen chop-chop. Jamal
I'm guessing coal ash as fell into the holes, and when you re-light burnt flavour which has lot its juice and has moulded with the ash i'm assuming it would be bad for you. Anyways thats my 2 cents.
Calcartman
you smoke coals normally, why any different later?

Kae
I've only had my hookah a week, and I have re-smoked a couple times. I have noticed a slight decrease in flavor, not enough to make it unsatisfying, but the smoke doesn't really ever get back to it's original splendor. And, yeah....that thing about cigarettes getting WORSE for you if you re-fry is rediculous. I've heard that before, just as I've heard that all the "bad stuff" is in the first 1/4in of the cigarette (or the last 1/4in). They ARE bad stuff. Cigarettes can't really get much worse for you, lol

lazria
Well, I finally got around to finishing off the bowl of Kiwi Tangiers that I started last week - other than it seemed to be ALOT more heat senative (keep smoking w/ 1 coal) it tasted just fine. It was almost 6 days between first smoke and second, so maybe it was too dry. Yeah!
