Don't use any antiperspirant deodorant either. They contain metals that, if you are sensitive to, can make you ill.

+1, it's been shown to cause alzheimer's... although that's a risk I'm willing to take. I've got all my jewelry coated with clear nail polish because I too am allergic to nickel. Never knew you could be allergic to copper. There was that one cosmetic company that was advertising that it was an essential mineral for younger-looking skin for a while rolleyes.gif

That's bull. No link between aluminum and Alzheimer's has been reasonably, scientifically been shown. Is there? Nobody's demonstrated it to be true, although many have tried. Could Alcoa be paying off the media? Sure. Science doesn't recognize it, thats what I'm saying.

Hookah Everyday: True, but your lungs clean themselves. They're wet. they dissolve water soluble things and phlegm up things that aren't soluble in water.

I'm sure Dan will tell you that smoking hookah a lot isn't as hard on your short-term health as cigarettes, from his experience...AZ?

Hey, Zoddi...where are you located, I'd like the name of your doctor and his phone#. His office number, preferably. I would like to find out what studies he citing to support his allergy claims of heavy metals.

WELL Eric, you have a pretty good memory. I did say to you a couple months after I quit cigs that my morning hacking had stopped, my voice had improved and my morning mouth was much better. Also noted improvement in the way food tastes. Now this is all anecdotal, subjective, etc. But it's my story. tongue.gif

I'm not sure if its any studies in particular. It wasn't my doctor, but a specialist I was referred to. The results of all the metals tested in two patch tests I had on my back had him conclude in a heavy metal allergy. I believe it was the True Test, if you're familiar with it

I agree Eric. That is total bullshit. My grandmother has Alzheimer's and I've learned a lot about it. The thought that deodorant causes Alzheimer's is just absurd! NOBODY knows what causes Alzheimers, or why it can just go away. If we knew what caused it, we would be working on the cure or have the cure, wouldn't we?

True, from what I know various links (including the deodorant link, I think) have been overplayed by the media. However, to say that "nobody knows what causes Alzheimers" is also misleading - we know a lot about the mechanisms that cause the disease. Sometimes we can know a ton about the cause of a disease and still find a cure very difficult to come up with - HIV and Muscular Dystrophy are two great examples. There are people actively working on cures for those two diseases, just as there are people actively working on a cure for Alzheimer's.

True mgcsinc. I forgot to look at it from all aspects. Guess my mind got caught up on my grandmother when I read the posts sad.gif .

Point is, smoking is bad for you. Herbal shisha is not a safe alternative. Smoke in lungs bad! LOL
