smoker6146
I was smoking my hookah while my parents were out today, and when I went to throw the coals in the toilet I guess a small piece of one fell and burned through the rug at the bottom of the toilet and the floor. The rug I fixed well enough by cutting off a small piece from the back and gluing it onto the burn, but as for the floor, I'm royally fucked. It's under the rug for now, but I know my parents are going to move the rug to clean or something eventually. Any ideas how to fix this? EDIT: I probably should have posted this in General, my mistake. Edited June 3, 2007 by smoker6146
joseph*
Dude, there really aren't any good ways of fixing this, other than hoping they don't notice or stay mad for too long
Jamal
Tipex over it or drop some white paint on it will look better than a black dot, had the same issue with my laminate wood flooring.
smoker6146
Tipex, ok.Right now I'm trying to get rid of the black ring. It's under the rug so that buys me some time to fix this lol.No more indoor smoking.
3rooker
Damn that sucks. I think the only way, maybe get some epoxy and white paint and whatever other colors it is. At least you didn't burn the house down! TX
smoker6146
As for now, cheap fixing.Scraped off most of the black ring, now covering with glue.I'll just make sure I volunteer to wash the bathroom floors every week until I go back to school. UQKenny
I have lots of tiny holes on my carpet and a ring mark too (from the vase itself), but the worst is the big hole on my sofa cover. I dropped a piece of charcoal on it and stupidly, instead of picking it up with a pair of tweezers immediately, I tried to blow it off the sofa, lol, which made it glow even more and melt the cover. I hope my landlord won't charge me a whole month of rent for that!
smoker6146
Ok, here's the new plan.Tomorrow I cut out all the black from it with a scalpel. Then I go behind the toilet where nobody will ever see and cut out a piece of the floor. Then, I cut it to size, and glue it into the burn hole. Sound feasible?
zachslusser
sounds like it will work... but do your parents not know you smoke hookah? cuz if they know then why not just say hey i made a mistake...

By the way, it's hard as hell to cut laminate.TX
smoker6146
But it can still be done right?I'll risk the finger, I think it will take too long with a finger nail clipper.

Do it right. You're gonna make you're rug look like a damn weed wacker hit it. Do it right and make it unnoticable. Take fingernail clippers and trim it right. Do you want you parents to look at the rug and be like WTF?! and then find the patch from the back and then find the floor patch, then the hole behind the toilet? WHAT HAPPENED?! AND WHERE THE HELL IS THE OTHER HALF OF YOUR FINGER?! lol Do it right, take the time to make it look good. Don't half ass it. I had to do a 4"x3" peice of carpet once, took me 20 minutes, but my parents never noticed. (that was a candle accident though ) All I can say is if you're going to do it, do it right. Otherwise, you'll have to do it again.TX
smoker6146
I already took care of the rug. I spent a long time doing it. I cut off little tiny pieces from all different spots, completely unnoticeable. Then I glued it in lairs, with just barely enough glue so it won't come undone from getting stepped on. I didn't want it to feel funny when someone stood on that spot with bare feet. It looks 100% and feels 90% ok when you step on it. I'll probably touch it up once my mother leaves for work tomorrow.I'm definitely not going to half ass the floor.I'm going to sand off all the black, cut the piece like you said, carefully trim it to the right size, and then put it in with Gorilla glue. I'm sure you'll be able to notice it a little bit, but hopefully it won't stand out.

clickhea
not bad i guess, but why diddnt you cut a square around the black and then fill it in with a square, woulda probably been easier and u wouldnt have had the black ring

Allia22
Yeah... I burned the seat of my mom's car (minor, I snatched it up right away), burned a series of little marks into the painted wood floor of what used to be the smoking room, and melted an area of the rug about the size of a quarter into slag. They understood, give it a shot. At least you weren't throwing it into the trash, THAT'D be unforgivable o_O
