Shisha Recommendation

Recommended Posts

ive been reading the tobacco reviews a lot lately because i have decided that i want to try a new brand of shisha. i have only smoked havana since i got my hookah last year. i have come down to two brands; starbuzz and layalina.

characteristics that i am looking for in the smoke are:
- strong and accurate flavour
- little or no buzz
- clouds of smoke (but this doesnt really matter too much)

flavours that i have chosen based on personal taste and reviews are:
layalina - double apple
- peach
- grape
starbuzz - apple
- grape
- white peach

i dont know which one to pick before i submit my order. i love the fact that starbuzz uses twist-on lids on their containers rather than snap-on.

all your opinions are welcome.

edit: how big are the 250g containers for each of these brands? height and diameter Edited by chinamon

Well starbuzz is a good brand and I love smoking it I would really like to try layalina due to the cheaper price and reviews claiming that the two are similar I am not sure of the actual dimensions of the container but it is smaller then the al waha or al amir 250g jar

I would probably order the layaina because it is cheaper but I like I said before haven't smoked it myself Edited by hookah hippie

Starbuzz is one of my favorite brands, only beaten by my long time loyalty to Al Waha.

Havent had any of the ones you have listed, but starbuzz does meet all your personal criteria for a new flavor. My favorites are:

Irish Cream
Marlette
X On The Beach
Guava

Good luck biggrin.gif

I recommend Layalina b/c it's cheaper but if you have big bucks why not spending it on SB. I read the review on SB and there no complaint at all plus SB don't need much heat to start with. Layalina on the other hand is just as good as SB. I tried Rasberry the other day and the smoke is huge and thick best session ever. So why not try both if you have the money to spent with. Peace and have a nice sessions smile.gif

im not big on layalina, i tried it before starbuzz.

starbuzz = 1st place easily. most of the flavors taste nice, i would stay away from the mixed flavors like mint lemon as quality control is lacking it seems. everything besides sour apple and irish cream, ive loved a lot.

fusion is real real nice, cheaper than starbuzz, but has higher nicotine content.

Hey Chinamon,

Starbuzz and Layalina are both great shishas, with that said, Starbuzz has a finer grind then Layalina so you would need less heat to get it going. They both have very accurate tastes (personally I love Layalina watermelon, unbelievable flavor and consistency biggrin.gif ), and the smoke is equally thick. They both seem to last equally as long, but I find that Layalina has longer lasting "thick" smoke. I say try one of each out, if your tight on a budget, go with Layalina, you can almost buy 2) 250gm jars for the same price as 1) 250gm jar of Starbuzz.

Hope this helps. smile.gif

Layalina...by far. The best smoke for the value and consistent good batches. Think of it this way... Layalina would be your good old ford, chevy or dodge work truck that just wont quit on you, and starbuzz would be a shiny new lexus that about 10 miles off the lot needs repairs already. Then your just pissed you spent all that money for something shiny, that didnt perform. Not saying Starbuzz is crap, not at all, but the best bang for your buck is going to be Layalina. In the end, its your decision, which flavors you like, and which is easier for you to smoke with. If you can, get a good mix of both and enjoy all ends of the spectrum. It's a win-win situation!

I'd take a Lexus over a chevy. The japanese know how to build reliable cars. Shisha wise Layalina is a solid choice. I like their melon a lot.

money isnt an issue for me because i dont smoke often (once a week at the most) so paying $20 per tub and buying three tubs to last a year or more is fine with me. once i pay off some of my visa bill i will place the order.

thanks for your input guys. much appreciated. tongue.gif

Your missing the point of the metaphor...lol And on another note Lexus and Toyota are made mainly in the US now, and are hardly Japanese owned anymore.

I have smoked every Starbuzz flavor and nearly every Layalina flavor with a few exceptions. No doubt about it, Starbuzz is a much better shisha in nearly every respect. You just can't beat the flavor/smoke quality of SB. That being said, Layalina is fine but it doesn't really compare to SB. Given your once a week session, there really is no reason not to go with SB. I would suggest the following flavors: Chocolate Mint, Marlette, White Peach, or White Grape. Some of my favorites....PEACE!!

Homemade shisha from the heart of the middle east, unique from anything else and made by a person with 50+ years of smoking, and shisha crafting experience. That would be your high end pasta rocket of shisha. At least in my opinion.

analogy sucks, no offense. lexus is the most reliable car maker right now, and has been for the last couple years. plus id rather have any lexus over any american car besides super cars of course.

if you want mix you're hardly going to smoke and when you do, you wanna be wowed, get starbuzz
if you want not as expensive yet delicious get alfaqher, layalina or fusion
if you want mix thats crap and you will get used to real quick and not enjoy get nahkla, al waha, or anything else that you can find for 7-8 bucks a 250g tin.

in my personal opinion, the cost is directly proportional to the quality and flavor. the more it costs, usually the better it tastes. of course shitty flavors do exist even with starbuzz.

starbuzz: passion kiss, x on the beach, peach, guava
al faqher gold: grape, green apple (personally, the gold is >>>>> the regular, both grape and apple)
fusion: cactus pear
layalina: watermelon, blueberry (ive had some hit and misses with blueberry, one time it was the best ive ever had, the next pure chemical, these companies have 0 quality control it seems).

i have no tried a lot of fusion, i have tried a couple more flavors but dont remember what they were, they were good either way.

personally, id stay away from anything that sounds like it would be really weird to smoke: any flower, anything you can drink, ive not had much luck with those.

Rose and Jasmin are two of my favorites. As for drinks, i will never smoke a "margarita" flavor, but peach ice tea from tangiers is fucking bomb.

You should probably check out some Al-Waha "After Nine." I just smoked that for the first time last night and I was wowed.

The one thing i didn't like about it when i had mine, is that after about half an hour all the chocolate was gone, and it was like 99% mint. But for that first half hour, it was an Andes mint, vaporized.
