Vivi Natural Coals

Recommended Posts

i am a new hookah user and i just bought one about 2 weeks ago. i got some rolland quick light coals with it and i got them to work pretty well. its just that i heard the natural coals are so much better and are alot better for you...i have read that all coals light differently....i have a small torch lighter and still had a hard time lighting these Vivi natural coals. I think i may have cut them the wrong size...and when i thought i had one lit...it didnt work on the hookah very well...actually terribly...

these are the ones that come in logs and i know i am doing something wrong...either i am cutting them wrong or something....they seem to not be hot at all....if anybody has used these coals...help would be much appreciated....i have not tried them on the stone yet...which i will here shortly...but im not gonna be at my home every time i do this and want to be able to do it with the torch lighter...

a description i read at another site "Just break up the charcoal fingers into pieces and place over heat source."....i dont really know what breaking it into fingers means... Edited by Ehagen8008

For natural coal try using the stove and leave the coal for about 5 minutes or more and when the coal begin to ash then you are ready to smoke your hookah. Using the porpane torch also works. I hope you have a great session peace and oh i almost forget, using natural is better that QL but i use QL just because i have a whole box of 3 kings QL and when that finish i'm using the natural coal smile.gif

Natural coals are not self lighting unlike hookah coals, so you should aim to break them down in to small pieces not to small though and light them for a long time.

ok...sounds like the stove is what i need to do...but one other question...like i said before it says "break the coals into fingers"....i dont know if that is longways or not....i thought i would break it up shortways to make them look more like the instant-lite coals...but the more i think about it...i think the other way (longways) is the way you are supposed to do it...still not sure though.....

Its probably a translation issue.
The logs themselves are called "fingers".
I break each finger into 3 or 4 pieces, but next time i use them im going to try slicing them in half, so i have dome shaped pieces that dont roll off the bowl.

Yeah thats the only reason i dont like the finger coals, they are sometimes hard to keep on the bowl because they roll all over the place, if they were half circles then it work out much better

When I use finger coals I use a cheese grater to flatten one side do they don't roll. It works great. You might want to give that a try.
