Scali Mod?

I recently purchased the glass funnel bowl, and I wondered what the scali mod did and whether or not it was worth picking up? Alot of threads here talk about how much it rocks, but what does it do?

I don't have one, but I'm fairly certain I understand the way its supposed to work.

So you see the one big hole in the middle which directs all the airflow? The scally mod covers that hole in such a way that it re-directs airflow to where the tobacco is, but at the bottom of the tobacco, so the air can get to all of it, rather than just bypassing it all and going straight through the big hole.

I don't use a scally mod, but I wouldn't mind trying it in the future.

And do you set up the funnel bowl the same way you would a regular bowl (the foul and everything). What about with the Scali Mod?

this is me clarifing it as i understand, since the first post is kinda confusing.

normally the smoke/vapor from the shisha just goes from the top of the shisha straight down the chamber, but with the mod in place the heat from the coals is pulled down through all of the shisha, through the flares in the mod, through the hole in the funnel, and down the stem. This allows the tobacco to be burned more evenly, and won't cook the top and leave the bottom still somewhat wet and uncooked.

The phunnel bowl was designed specifically with Tangiers shisha in mind, the mod helps it smoke a lot better with other types of tobacco.

Depends on what you smoke normally. If you're a Tangiers man through and through, I'd say skip it. However, if starbuzz and layalina are your shisha or choice, it may be worth it. I don't think it is by any means necessary, but from what I've heard it does increase flavor a lot.

If those are brands, I've never smoked any of them. I usually smoke Al-Waha. Are these other brands better? Enlighten me. This place is really cool, I feel like I have alot to learn.

Saying any brands are better is a matter of opinion, but theres so much more out there then al waha, i suggest trying. Checking the review section will help learn about the different brands, and give you some idea of the good flavors to try.

As for the mod, it does as yash says, and redirect are flow to lower in the bowl, allowing the heat from the coals to effect the whole bowl, not just the top layers of tobacco, meaning better burn, through the whole bowl. This even helps with tangiers tobacco, its not so different as to not be helped from more even heating

far as i know, its the same. im smokin tangiers nectarine right now w/small funnel and no mod and its workin wonders. i have 2 pick one of these bad boys up and see the different since i always use the funnel bowl now.

Ive only used my funnel bowl with the mod, but its pretty straight forward, you just pack tobacco around the mod, and poke holes around the mod in the same way you would for a normal bowl.
